Jean MORING Obituary

MORING, Jean Mary
Jean Mary Moring passed away peacefully on May 13, 2011, at Folsom, California, after a mercifully short battle with cancer. Born Jean Baldock on October 14, 1922, at St. Albans, England, Mom grew up through the historical events of the Great Depression and 'the London Blitz' in England. On October 1, 1945 Mom married Leland Dwight Moring, an American GI and veteran of the D-Day landing, and immigrated to Rockford, Illinois as a British 'war-bride.' Mom became a naturalized American citizen in 1950 and her 37-year marriage with her Dwight produced four devoted children. In 1962, Jean and Dwight moved their family to Riverside, California. After Dwight passed away in 1982, Mom settled in Folsom, to be close to her beloved daughter and grandchildren.
Mom was a caring and serving woman, as well as a wonderful conversationalist who could tell colorful stories about her life and her 'grand old England.' She was a ballet 'mom', a Cub Scout Den Mother, and a long-time assistant administrator at a private elementary school. In Folsom, Mom volunteered at the Historical Museum and was an active member of the Trinity Episcopal Church. She served in the church's Thrift Shop and Altar Guild until the week before she died. Mom is survived by her brother, Jack Baldock of Farnham, England and four children and their spouses David Moring (Sandy); Gary Moring (Linda); Deborah Hanks (Mike) of Gold River; and Andrew Moring (Judy). She also had 14 grandchildren, to whom she was affectionately known as 'Nana', and 6 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service is at Trinity Episcopal Church, 803 Figueroa Street, Folsom, California 95630, on Thursday, May 19, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in her name to Trinity Episcopal Church (same address), or to the charity of your choice.
