Arch Nance Obituary
SALISBURY - Mr. Arch Charles "A.C." Nance, Jr., 85, of Salisbury, passed away March 7, 2012, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Nance was born Oct. 29, 1926, in Mecklenburg County, Va., son of the late Arch Charles Nance, Sr. and Ada Sue Reece Nance.
A.C. was educated in the Chase City Schools in Virginia and Cabarrus County schools. He retired in 1982 after 36 years with the Dept. of Corrections as a Regional Director of the South Piedmont Area.
He was of the Baptist faith, a member of Faith American Legion Post 327, a member of Salisbury Moose Lodge where he was a charter member, and a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Shirley Hart Nance, who he married April 2, 1976; two sons, Johnny R. Nance and wife Terri of Apex and Rocky W. Nance and wife Dana of Concord. He has two sisters, Dorothy Cline of Salisbury and Ruby Cashion of Kannapolis; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Service: The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Powles Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Joe Smith, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, and Rev. Donald Wagoner.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at Powles Funeral Home Friday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.; and at the residence the remainder of the time.
Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Military Graveside services will be conducted by the Rowan County Honor Guard and the N.C. Military Honor Guard.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Faith Baptist Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 84 Faith, NC 28041.
