Brenda Glissmeyer Obituary

1942 ~ 2017
Brenda Lou Glissmeyer, age 74, passed away peacefully at her home on April 22, 2017. Brenda was born in Hobbs, New Mexico on October 6, 1942, to John and Naomi Welch. She graduated from the University of Wyoming and later earned two master's degrees. Brenda and Richard were married in San Jose, California, on June 11, 1994 and later sealed together in the Salt Lake City Temple. Brenda was a social worker and then a teacher. She believed very strongly in education and was a pioneer teacher for troubled middle school children in California. Many of her students graduated from high school and even college. She loved quilting with friends and was a wonderful artist. She was a master of trivia and had a good sense of humor. She made people feel good even when she was in constant pain for the last several years of her life.
She is survived by her husband Dr. H. Richard Glissmeyer along with her sister, Tona Simnacher, brothers John Welch, Brent Welch and her aunt Shirley Johnson. She is also survived by her two sons, Sean Dinsmore and Casey Dinsmore (Tony) and stepchildren, Stephanie Dastrup (Doug), Stacy Glissmeyer, Tamara Glissmeyer, and Brian Glissmeyer (Angie). She also left behind 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Foothill 6th Ward on 2215 East Roosevelt Avenue, Salt Lake City, Utah. The viewing will be from 10:00 until 10:45 am and services will begin at 11:00 am. Online condolences may be offered at www.dignitymemorial.com.

Brenda was a spark of energy that came to the Red Hat Rebels chapter in the Red Hat Society. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and her light will be missed by many. So sad to lose an enthusiastic Red Hat Lady!
