Howard Staker

Howard Staker 1921 ~ 2010 Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home at 3:15 p.m., October 24th, 2010, after battling with cancer for close to a year.He was born February 1st, 1921 in Huntington, Utah to Lawrence Raymond Staker and Eliza Amy Howard. In 1940, Howard went to Park City to work in the mines. It was there that he met the love of his life, Lydia Luella Bradley. They married on February 7th, 1942. After that, they moved to Salt Lake City. Howard served in the military during World War II, reporting for duty shortly after his first child, Lydia Marie Staker was born. After his service in the military, he brought seven more children into the world. Lawrence David, Dennis Howard, Robert Lyman, John Stuart, James Gary, Laurel Ann, and Allene Kay. Howard served in the LDS church as a Bishop, High Councilor, and many other callings too numerous to mention here. He also served a genealogical mission, a humanitarian mission, and as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple. He took great satisfaction and spiritual joy in serving others and the church. He is preceded in death by his wife Lydia and his son Lawrence (Larry). He is survived by his sons Dennis, Robert (Venita), John (Rose), Jim, Laurel Brassel (Buddy) and Allene, and his sister, Elizabeth Swedberg and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held will be held Friday. October 29th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the South Jordan River Stake Center at 1570 West 11400 South. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friends and family may also call at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Thursday, October 28th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, following the services.
