Dear Anderson Family,
You have been in my thoughts this week as the first anniversary of your husband and father's death has come and gone. I just wanted to let you know how much I and countless others appreciate the incredible contribution your loved one made to our community throughout his life. It is truly heartbreaking that he lost his life in the line of duty. I am so sorry for the sacrifice your family has made to protect the safety of everyone. Thank you.

I was touched to hear of Mike's tragic death from my old friend, Nori Huntsman. The picture she's painted of him, as well as the tributes I've read in this guest book create for me the image of a dedicated, loving man with a love of the law and the strength to enforce it effectively. Dear Steve,
There are some things a person cannot say, for whatever foolish reasons. Now I wish I would have. I felt privileged to work by your side. You taught me true leadership by way of integrity. In your presence, I stood a little taller, held my chin a little higher and saw life a little clearer. For that, I will be eternally grateful. If there is but one word I would use to describe you, it would be "reverence". I THINK YOU ARE ONE OF THE LORD'S CHOSEN FEW AND HE NEEDS YOU NOW. I will see you in my day to day thoughts and hopefully be able to thank you personally for what you have done for me. I recall looking at you every morning and thinking to myself, 'Millie must be one of the Lord's chosen few for this man to love her so much'. I offer my prayers for Him to ease your family's suffering at the loss of you and I hope they find comfort in knowing that you have touched so many lives in a way that no other could. Something about you brought out the best in me, and I noticed it in others around you, too. You are someone that everyone wanted to impress. When we were in the Academy together, I knew you were destined for great things. I will carry myself a little stronger out of respect for you and hope that I never lose that sense of peace I had when you were around.

I learned about the death of Elder Anderson on the internet. We were missionary companions in 1967 in Connecticut. I have read the many tributes about him and they are right on. I just wanted to let you know how sorry I am for your loss. I haven't seen you for so long - you were my mutual teacher when I was a young woman, and I loved you so much. I still have the butterflies we painted in young wonmen's for a mother's day gift still hanging in my parents home. You were a wonderful example to me, and touched my life forever.

I serve with Steve in the transportation unit, he is a friend and mentor to me and many others in the department. Steve served the public with honor and courage. I will miss seeing Officer Anderson as he escorted prisoners at University Hospital. Everyone here who remembers him says the same thing - the smile in his photos is the smile he always wore whenever we saw him. He was always friendly, kind, and respectful to all he encountered and he will be missed. God bless you all....

I was driving to an appointment today in Murray, Utah, and couldn't help noticing how may flags were being flown at half-staff, obviously in tribute to Steve. What a wonderful legacy to and for the Anderson family. I lived in Bluffdale for many years and remember what beautiful and kind people Steve and Millie were and are, the kind of people you want to be around and associated with. My heart is broken for the family as a result of this senseless tragedy, but I know that all will eventually be well and that some day they will be together again for all eternity because of the promise of the Gospel.

My husband served with Stephen on the High Council for years. We were in the same ward as Dave before we even met Stephen. Their parents must of been some very choice people. I don't ever remember passing Stephen (even after Kraig was released from the High Council and put in as Bishop} that he didn't have that smile on his face, a kind word to say, and a friendly hand to extend to me. Mille, we know that Stephen is in a much better place, out of pain and spreading his way of living his life with other people. It's the people he left behind (us) that go through everyday life with all the worries, stress, etc. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you especially at this time, and that we live down the road if you ever need a helping hand or just someone to talk to. All though I only know him through doing guard duty at the hospital. UMC, he was always their if I need a break.
I had many times were we were able to talk and I enjoyed talking to him while guarding prisoners from Salt Lake County Jail (ADC).
He will be mist.

Dear Anderson Family,
My Husband and I were so sorry to hear of your loss. Kirk was talking to me about how wonderful Stephen was. I would like to personally express my condolences to Ted and Michelle at this time. I knew that Ted was marrying into a wonderful family! May the Lord comfort each one of you at this time.

On behalf of the men and women of the South Salt Lake Police Department we extend our condolences to the family of Officer Stephen Anderson and the members of the Utah Department of Corrections. Dear Millie and kids,
I am so truely sorry for your loss; Stephen was such a great and kind man. I have great memories of your wonderful family, going to the property when I was in high school. He loved you all and it showed. Your family was always a good example to me. You are in our prayers.
