RUTH SUNDBERG Obituary

Ruth Ann Sundberg 1945 ~ 2010 Ruth Ann Sundberg returned home suddenly and peacefully on September 12th, 2010. Her last days were joyfully spent doing her favorite things with her family, loved ones, and attending the Kamas Bible Church. Ruth is an amazing woman that lived a rich and full life. She is an artist, a musician, a woodworker with a passion for design and beauty. She is a rare balance of intelligence, passion, and strength. Her love and compassion touched lives of all those she met. She is a convicted Christian with strong faith in her Savior Jesus Christ. More than anything she is mom, the perfect mother for our family. Ruth was born on July 5th, 1945 and grew up in Haverhill, Massachusetts. She was the first woman to attend the Woodworking program at Boston Trade School. She came to Utah to begin a woodworking business and met her husband John. Together over the past 40 years they have created museum quality furniture that is designed to inspire today and to be passed on for generations. Ruth joined her daughter Robin and leaves behind her husband John, sons Joshua and Clifford, her sister Rachel and brother Ronnie, two dogs, three horses, two geese, and three cats. Words cannot express what you have brought to our lives and this world. We know that you are not gone, but will miss you being here with us. We love you so much and look forward to joining Robin and you soon. Service will be held Wednesday, September 15th at the Oakley Town Hall located at 960 West Center Street, Oakley, Utah from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Visitors are welcome from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Burial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the Coalville Cemetery located at 240 S. Industrial Park Rd. Coalville, UT 84017.

John,Joshua, Clifford,

One month ago, I lost one of my oldest friends, the person who introduced me to this odd, wonderful place, Utah, over 35 years ago. I still can't believe we'll never again share a hike, a beer, a good story. Ruth was an amazing woman in so many ways; my heart goes out to all of you at this sad time

Dear John,
Please know that I continue to pray for you, Clifford and Joshua and all of Ruth's friends and neighbors as well as keeping watch over her sister, Rachel, and her family here in Massachusetts. May you walk in love and gentleness, and find God's wisdom over time. Blessings,
Pastor Mary (The Rev. Mary F. Bettencourt)

John, Joshua, Clifford;
I was devastated by the news of Ruth's passing. She was such an amazing woman with such a big heart!! She always seemed to have a smile on her face. I have so many fond memories of her and your family! I know that she is with Robin and embracing her! I know how much she missed her and now she is with her again. Even though she is gone from us, she will never be forgotten. We will be reunited with her, Robin, and all our loved ones soon enough, that is God's promise. My thoughts and prayers are with you! Let me know if I can do anything for you.

Love,
AmberDee

I am so shocked and saddened to have found out about Ruth's death. I knew Ruth and John in the early to mid 1970's and I proud to own a loveseat of their design and making. I loved Ruth's artistry, humor, and peace-loving soul. I send John and the children my deepest sympaty. Nancy Benson Bryant

To the Sundbergs,
though I did not know Ruth, I have enjoyed much time with Clifford and I can see that a profound importance of family, ethics, conviction and individuality were instilled in his being,a gift from his loving parents and siblings. My thoughts and best wishes are with your family.

I am Ruth's first cousin, but I had not seen her in about 55 years. In the past year, we had re-connected and traded correspondence. My wife and I had hoped we could drive to Utah for a personal reunion. I am terribly sad that it did not happen. Ruth was unable to attend a Meeden family reunion we had in Illinois 14 months ago. Our thoughts and prayers are with John, Clifford, Joshua, Rachel, Ron and other family members during these difficult days. May God bless all of you and give you peace.

My love and heart felt sympathy to all of you. There us no doubt the Ruth loved her family with all her heart. God bless you all with peace of mind and heart. Sincerely, Norine C. Van Tassell Family

John, Joshua, and Clifford;
My deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family. I feel blessed to have known such a wonderful lady. She will be deeply missed on this earth, but I too can't help but think of what a joyous reunion is going on with Ruth and Robin. If we have the Faith that Ruth had, we should find comfort in knowing that this place is not our home, we are just a passing through.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
May the Love of Christ be with you.

My heartfelt sympathy goes to John, Joshua and Clifford. You are all one in a million. Ruth, you will be missed.

Sorry to hear of Shawn’s leaving us. I worked for Shawn and John at Walrus Woodworking in the mid-70’s for about a year, and learned a lot about wood, craft, skill, patience, and hard work by being there with them. I don’t think Shawn was a Christian at that time, and I rejoice to hear that she loved the Lord later in her life. My condolences and best wishes go to John and their children.
