It was then that they began an exciting and rewarding 33 year Army life together with assignments around the U.S., Germany, and Panama. COL Bill and Suzy Kernan retired to San Antonio, Texas in 1973. Her beloved husband, Bill, died in 1984 and Suzy remained in San Antonio until 2008 when she moved to Pinehurst, NC.

Suzy, a dearly loved Mother, is survived by her four children and their families, Buck and Marianne Kernan of Pinehurst, Suzi Lowrey of Hampton VA, Michael and Bobi Kernan of San Antonio, TX, and Jim and Letti Kernan of Austin, TX. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Keith Kernan, Patrick and Kelly Kernan, Kyle, Colin, and Brendan Lowrey, and five great grandchildren, Casey and Ahalya Lowrey and Colin II, Lyle, and Dorothy Lowrey.
