David Coote Obituary

COOTE
David Bramwell Coote went to be with the Lord on December 31, 2012. He was born to Leonard and Esther Coote in Yokohama, Japan, on December 14, 1922. After living in Japan as the son of missionaries until the age of seventeen, David came to America to attend Tulsa Apostolic Bible College, where he met his late wife, Hope. His father, Leonard Coote, established International Bible College (IBC) in San Antonio, Texas, as well as bible colleges in Taejon, Korea and Ikoma, Japan. After two years of evangelistic ministry, David joined the staff of IBC and became instructor and president for almost 50 years, where he influenced countless to surrender their lives to the call of God. David is remembered for his generosity and compassion toward others, and for his selfless and sacrificial spirit. He was a dynamic and charismatic minister, captivating audiences with his preaching and recitation of scriptures. His true passion was missions, and he dedicated his life to helping the less fortunate around the world. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hope; son, Timothy; and sisters, Faith Denton and Ruth Bell. He is survived by his sister, Gracie Hearn, daughters, Rebecca Pinner (Van) and Anna Joy Parker (Troy), grandchildren Amy Bragg (Colin), Angela Adams (Nathan), Luke Pinner (Megan), Katie Parker, Tyler Pinner, Grace Pinner, and great grandchildren, Colton and Selah Pinner, and Emma and Arabella Adams. Visitation will be Friday, January 11th at IBC from 5 - 7 pm. Service of Celebration will be Saturday, January 12th at 1:00 pm at IBC with burial following at Mission Burial Park North. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Home of Hope Orphanage in China through Destiny Church, 8635 Callaghan Road, San Antonio, Texas, 210-349-2295. Becky and Anna Joy wish to thank Jack and Barbara Gunn, Jason Dodge and Brad and Kim Gordon for their loving and faithful care of their daddy during this last season of his life. David Coote was a world changer and will be terribly missed. You may sign the on-line guestbook at www.missionparks.com under the obituary section.

I only met Bro David Coote once in a church revival where he preached several sermons that has made a lifelong impression in my mind and soul. I started preaching a few years later and I knew that the same style and passion he preached was the way God was calling me to do the same. O how he could make you feel as if you were there in the scriptures story. The one that I remember so real was the Good Samaritan. What a blessing he was, what a talent he had and what a servant to the Lord. Tonight I will be preaching again a sermon that he preached in our church some 45 years ago. Thank you Bro David for planting the send, which others watered but the increase belongs to the Lord forever and ever amen.

I appreciate you dear brother in Christ. You sincerely forgave me immediately when I asked you to. When I saw you at Bethany in Baker, LA. and you were in the boat rowing furiously and asking Jesus if He cared that all were perishing, I knew then that IBC was the Bible college to go to.

Hard to imagine that 33 years have gone by since I was at IBC. I haven't kept up with all the news that happened over the years but was saddened to learn of the downgrade from college to training center and then the shutdown. And of course, the sad news of Bro. Coot's passing. But time marches on and things change but Jesus is still Lord. Hallelujah.

I was first exposed to Bro. David's dynamic teaching style at the Greater Pittsburgh Charismatic Conference in 1975. After being in one of his electrifying teachings, I knew I had to go to his college. Two months later, I was attending and those were 4 exciting and blessed years, learning the Bible and absorbing as much of David's teaching as possible. I will be forever grateful to him, IBC, and all the great acquaintances I made while there. My deepest condolences to the family, yet it is a time for celebration as Bro. David has his reward and he is finally singing the songs of Zion in Heaven, being with Hope, Tim and Ruth, his parents and others. We will all miss him very much.

I learned a lot about the Bible through International Bible College(IBC). I met a lot of great and interesting people with some whom I have developed friendships. I have ministered in various places and individuals around San Antonio since leaving IBC. What I enjoyed was David Coote's teaching, on the "Life of Christ." I took what I learned shared with others. God organized and orchestrated our lives and all who past through IBC's gates where touched by David Coote. May Ana Joy (Parker) and Becky (Van) be blessed in the passing of their Dad. My condolences to IBC and the Family.

I will never forget the years spent at IBC and Bro. David bringing the stories from the Bible to LIFE. One minute he could be crying and the next he would be leaping off a desk to get his point across. I literally felt like I was right in the middle of the story and could feel what Paul was going through. It was truly amazing and lessons I have remembered over the past 50 years. Thank you Bro. David for all the lives you touched. What a homecoming you must have had when you were with Sis. Hope, Timothy and more importantly with our Lord.

I will be forever grateful to God for David Coote and the love of God´s Word that he implanted in my life and in so many other lives. O, for more men and women living their lives to impact young men and women with the reality of who Jesus is and what He can and will do with a life committed to Him.
