James Hinkle Obituary

HINKLE
James Randy Hinkle, 52, passed away quietly on February 15, 2013 at his home in San Antonio, TX, with his sister Joyce by his side.
Randy was born on May 18, 1960 in Morgantown, West Virginia and graduated in 1979 from Union High School. He went on to serve our country in the military from May, 1981 to May, 1985 as a Staff Support Administration Specialist in the Air Force.

Randy is preceded in death by his parents, the late James Hinkle and Martha Marie Boyers Hinkle, his brother Gary Lee Hinkle and James "Tugar" Diaz, his devoted partner of 20 years. Randy is survived by two sisters, Joyce Lynn Smigal and husband John, Judy Ann Pyles and husband Troy, several nieces and nephews, and the members of James Diaz's family whom Randy considered his second family. Always thinking of others, Randy made certain he found new homes for his three wonderful dogs: Li'l Bit, Bella and Buford, who will miss him terribly.

Randy spent 20 years of dedicated service with AARC , the Alamo Area Resource Center in San Antonio, TX. He was a programs manager, working with various city and county programs, as well as private Foundations.
Per his wishes, Randy will be cremated and will be remembered in a private family service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to AARC at 527 N Leona St San Antonio, TX 78207, or to the American Cancer Society at 1875 Connecticut Ave., NW, Suite 730, Washington, DC 20009.
A special thank you to Terry Padilla and Janie Diaz for their tireless love and support. And to his sister Joyce for being there when he needed her most.

I came to know and work with Randy fairly recently. However, in that short time it was abundantly clear that he was passionate about his work and the people he served. I extend my deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones during this time of sadness.

Dearest Randy,
Uncle Bill and I just came from the MCC Church where we thought we were going to attend your memorial service. We must have gotten the date wrong because we were the only ones there. We stopped and ate supper at the last place you and Uncle Bill ate together and had great thoughts and memories of you. SOOOOOO Glad you got to see Diana Ross when she came to SA!! Bill told me all about that and suppose you just wanted us to get together tonight in your honor. I love you bunches and miss you tons. I hope to be at your birthday party at Deer Creek on May 18th. Love you and James. Please don't laught at me cuz I got all dressed up with nowhere to go. Happy Spring to you both. Smooches and hugs.

As Chair of the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs and Military Installations, I am sincerely thankful for his valiant service in defense of our rights and freedom.

His commitment to family, friends, our community, and to serving our great nation leaves a wonderful legacy. May the love and the wonderful memories you shared with him help you when you need it most. He will never be forgotten, and your family will be remembered in my prayers.
