Mary Kowalik Obituary

KOWALIK
Mary Lillian Moy Kowalik, age 74, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013 in a car accident outside of Orange Grove, Texas. Mary was born in Falls City on August 15, 1939 to Stanik and Frances Lyssy Moy. She graduated from Falls City High School in 1957 and married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Kowalik in 1958. Together they farmed and ranched. Mary was an excellent seamstress and worked 25 years at the Falls City National Bank at the main branch and the Eagle Creek branch until her retirement in August 2012. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Altar Society in Falls City.
She is survived by her Children: Natalie (Ronnie) Klostermann of Corpus Christi, Alan (Lorena) Kowalik of Round Rock, Thomas Jr. (Yvette) Kowalik of Falls City, and Sandy (Brent) Klostermann of Orange Grove; Grandchildren: Rebecca (Neal) Grabarkewitz of Arlington, Virginia, Suzanne (Justin) Burch of Humble, Isabel and Alina Kowalik of Falls City, and Carson, Connor, and Cannon Klostermann of Orange Grove; Great-Grandchildren: Landon and Kaitlyn Burch of Humble. Mary is also survived by her Brothers: Leonard Moy of Hobson and Fabian Moy of Falls City, and Sister, Dorothy Felux of San Antonio. She also has numerous nephews and nieces. Another survivor is her dog, Katie.
Preceding Mary in death includes her husband of 37 years, Thomas Kowalik, her parents, her brother Emil Moy and sister Gracie Flieller.
In addition to working at the Falls City National Bank, Mary also loved all the family time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There could never be enough noise in her house with kids. Nothing would slow her down. Christmas meant everything to Mary. She would decorate soon after Thanksgiving equaling a Griswald Christmas times ten! She wanted Christmas with all the family to last as long as it could so "one gift at a time" was her motto. Mary enjoyed watching hummingbirds, her gardens, and the relaxing waterfall sounds in her backyard. Mary traveled many places and never met a stranger. One of her goals was to snowmobile in the snow-she's probably doing that in Heaven now with our Daddy. She always encouraged her children, and in turn we encouraged her.
Rosary will be held on Thursday, December 5, at 7:00 pm at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City. Family will be present from 5:00 pm through the rosary. The funeral will be held on Friday, December 6, at 10:00 am at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Gregory Sawicki, SDS officiating and burial to follow at the Falls City Cemetery where she will be laid in perpetual rest next to her husband, parents, and sister.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society in memory of her sister, Gracie Flieller. Funeral services are entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Home of Karnes City, Texas.
