George Benedict Obituary

George Benedict Jr. January 6, 1922 - August 7, 2017 San Diego It is with great sadness that the family of George Benedict Jr. announces his passing, on Monday, August 7th, 2017, at the age of 95 years old. George will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Rainey Duck Benedict and his children, Cheyann, Betsy, Laurel, Jonathan and William and his 10 grandchildren. Born is Tampa, FL in 1922, George was the son of Rabbi George Benedict Sr. and his wife Pauline. George attended Dickenson College where he was awarded Phi Beta Kappa. And after serving as a Captain in the Marines during WWII, George attended Harvard Law School. He began his early law career in Los Angeles, CA and soon found himself in San Diego where he established Herman and Benedict Law Firm and practiced for 35 years. George was a member of Byraco during proposition 14 and president of B'nai B'rith in the 1970's. He also was an avid tennis player and poker player as well as an expert gardener. A Celebration of George's life will be held at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on Wednesday, August 16th, at 2pm: 1800 Cabrillo Memorial Dr., San Diego, CA 92101 - (619) 553-2084, followed by a reception at an establishment to be announced.
