Dawn Perry Obituary

Dawn Marie Perry was born to Jim and Margie Perry in July 1964 in Berea, Ohio, and died of heart failure Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, in Austin, Texas. Dawn moved with her parents and two brothers, Scott and Todd Perry, to San Luis Obispo in 1972, Atascadero in 1976, then to Alaska in 1977. They returned to Atascadero in 1978. Dawn attended school in Atascadero, except for the years in Alaska, and graduated from Atascadero High School. Through the years she worked in many capacities: waitress, quality control inspector, title officer and noted arts quilter, but most importantly, she was the mother of Nathan Perry. Dawn embraced the Arts. She exhibited her quilting skills in Open Studio Tours in both north and south counties and private showings, and was a member and exhibitor on the Red Elephant website. She will be missed by all of those who knew her. Dawn is survived by her son, Nathan Phillip Perry (Mayra); parents, Jim and Margie Perry; brothers Scott (Sheryl) Perry and Todd Perry; Uncle Paul George (Heidi) Gesso; Aunt Judy (Rex L. Hutton); and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Charles and Elizabeth Perry; and maternal grandparents, Paul and Margaret Gesso. A memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at the Atascadero Bible Church, 6225 West Mall in Atascadero, with a reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Benevolence Fund, Atascadero Bible Church, 6225 West Mall, Atascadero, CA 93422.

I have memories of Dawn and myself in high school and enjoying many experiences the years after high school. Nights out in SLO, baseball games with my family, sewing Halloween costumes, and trying different restaurants together. We were "twins" - both born on July 27, 1964. While our adult lives took us in different directions and we lost touch over the years, I have thought of her often. Dawn had such confidence in herself and a great smile.

The Cutting Edge/Fiber Arts group which Dawn started here in San Luis was sad to hear of her recent passing. Our group is now actively participating in gallery showings in the area thanks to her efforts. She was a fine artist in the art quilt field.

I remember Dawn from church youth group in the early 80's, what a beautiful, outgoing and friendly young lady. She will always be in our hearts and fond memories. Even though I haven't seen her in years, I still look back at the good times I have locked away.I'm truly sorry for the loss of such a wonderful woman. My prayers are with the whole family.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jim and Margie
Scott and Todd. My fondest memory of Dawn was working with her out at Diablo Canyon. She was a beautiful and vibrant person. God Bless her and all of you.

Dawn is the most special and beloved person I have known in my life, and the love that she gave to those who she knew will always remain and grow in our hearts. Dawn gave of herself to all those she knew, and out of the billions of people on Earth, she is the one that touched my heart more than any other, forever. I am so thankful for the time that we were blessed with together. I Love You Always Dawn! ... Danny
