Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the star shine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I do not die.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of Deanna Mete. The world has lost a wonderful woman.

I graduated from the Allan Hancock College Law Enforcement Academy with Deanna. During those 6 long months, it seemed like I spent more time with the recruits of class 95 than with my own family. Deanna was an inspiration. She was competitive and always at the top of the class, but she knew how to put a smile on someone's face when they were having a bad day (which seemed to happen a lot in the academy!).

I was saddened to hear of Deanna's passing, but she will always be remembered for how wonderful a person she was.

Dear Mark, Riley, and Sarah,
I was Riley's teacher at Little Ark Preschool when he was 3 years old. Last week my daughter, Officer Kellye Diller of Atascadero Police Department, called tearfully to say that she had just had the honor and privilege of being part of a police escort for a beloved Paso officer. I had no idea as I listened to her speak of the family, the sorrow, the loving support, and the privilege of joining her fellow officers in honoring a life that it was Deanna we were speaking about. My deepest sympathy for you all at this time. What an amazing and lovely woman. How proud you must be to call her yours. Her life and love is a part of who you are now and forever. Each of you continue to be on my heart and in my prayers. With love and fond remembrance,
Mrs. Jana Diller

Hey girl!
Watch over us up there! I'm gonna miss you're crazy passion for life, that smile, and of course all the good times we all shared at 41. Never gonna forget those times I was strugglin' in the gym and you'd yell at me, "Come on chick! You got this!" Then you'd just smile. You've proven to this world the true meaning of a champion... you never gave up, and you never quit. And that's with anything you ever did, I'm so proud of you! Thank you for giving me advice, being an inspiration, and pushing me when I felt like stopping. You were an awesome dispatcher and a damn good officer! I'm very honored to have known you. Bless you, your family, and loved ones.
Rest in paradise chick.

Deanna,

I love you. I'll miss you. I'm glad to have known you. My prayers are with your family, especially your children. I'm probably one of many who would rather have taken your place than continue in life knowing your good soul has been taken from this world. You will be sorely missed by all whose life you touched. I hope we meet again.
