Dear Jon, I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your father. He is no doubt thought of quite fondly by the myriad students and teachers he guided and supported throughout his many years at AGHS. He was a dedicated principal. I will remember his friendliness and his personal kindness to me. My thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time. Gigi Sawyer (AGHS '76)

Those of us who were selected for the County Honor Band got a personal note from Mr. Hitchen congratulating us. The fact that he made that effort with all his other duties made quite an impression on me.

Mr. Hitchen was a great principal. I graduated from AGHS in 1979 and always remembered Mr. Hitchen's leadership examples in my career and in my missions assignments in the third world. He set the bar high and his students benefitted from his example.

Mr. Hitchen was certainly one of a kind.....he was one of the most beloved faculty at AGHS when we were in high school. He was a great role model for the students and was liked and respected by all. Always had a smile on his face, and an encouraging word for the students. He will certainly be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. How fortunate we all are that he touched our lives!
