Mary Wildman Obituary

Mary Elaine Wildman, 78, of Los Osos, died succumbing to her 30-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at home with her family by her side. Mary was born a twin in November 1932 in Covina, Calif., to Manley and Marie Thompson. She and her twin sister, Enid, were the youngest of six children. During her childhood years, her family moved often and she lived in different communities in California, including Covina, Cayucos and Paso Robles. Mary graduated from Paso Robles High School in 1951 and married Jerry Wildman in 1952. They had three children, Cherie, Terry and Daryl. They raised their family in Kern (1955-1966) and San Luis Obispo (1966-present) Counties. Mary loved children and was a devoted mother. During her earlier years, Mary was active in Junior League of Bakersfield, where she was given accolades for organizing events for the Saturday Adventurers. She continued her active life when the family moved to Atascadero in 1966, where she was involved in Junior Women''s Club, local community activities and had started a 4-Wheel Drive Club with Jerry. She enjoyed being involved with her children''s activities, which included Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and FFA to name a few. Before she became totally disabled with the effects of MS, Mary traveled with Jerry to places, such as the Grand Canyon, and sailed the Caribbean and Hawaii. Mary will always be remembered for her radiant smile and infectious laugh. She loved to dance, go 4-wheel driving and sail with Jerry, and enjoyed painting and knitting. Her last 10 years were lived quietly, with Jerry at her side in Los Osos. Mary is survived by her husband, Jerry of Los Osos; daughter, Cherie McMillen (Michael) of Pittsburg, Calif.; son, Terry of Morro Bay; granddaughter, Mary Rachael McMillen; great-granddaughters Hannah and Emma; older sister, Shirley Conlon of Pismo Beach; and twin sister, Enid Schwartz of Cherry Valley, Calif. She was preceded in death by her son, Daryl in 1979. A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2010, at the Paso Robles District Cemetery. Donations can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Kuehl-Nicolay Funerals 238-4383 Paso Robles
