Edward Payson Ripley IV

EDWARD PAYSON RIPLEY IV Edward Payson Ripley IV, 72, died unexpectedly in his sleep on February 28, 2015. Born in Clovis, New Mexico but raised in Santa Fe, he attended Wood-Gormley and Harrington Jr. High, before graduating from NMMI in 1960. In 1965, he graduated from NMSU with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. While at NMSU, he served on Engineering Council, Student Senate and was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. In his engineering career, he traveled the world working in places such as Praia Brava Brazil, Venezuela, Holland, and Saudi Arabia. He also lived many years in Houston and Las Vegas, NV before retiring in Santa Fe, NM. Known as Ed to some, Payson to others, he always had a kind word to lift the spirits of others. He enjoyed playing tennis and loved to scuba dive. Payson was preceded in death by his parents, E.P. and Violet Craig Ripley, and a brother Craig. He is survived by his sons, Joseph Craig Ripley and Edward Payson Ripley V, wife Grady; granddaughters Josie and Kate Ripley and former spouse, Hilda Lithgow Ripley. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on March 28 at The Church of the Holy Faith, 311 East Palace Ave in Santa Fe.
