They say we have 5 people who are major influences in our lifetime. In the mid 70's, Fred was one of mine as I observed him living each and every day with zest and fun and laughter...no exceptions! He and Judy kindly kept in touch with me through the years, and I was lucky enough to spend time with them during summer stays at their home 2 and 3 years ago.
Last Sunday, I left Fred's memorial thinking how lucky I am to have known this fun loving, gentle giant of a man. He was generous, always appreciative, adored his Judy, and conducted his life with panache. He was a creature like no other on the face of this earth.
It was a relief to be with the people Fred loved on Sunday. I wish we could come together and have "Fred Meet-Ups" in the future. Much love to you all...xo

Fred was a unique guy. Big and brassy with a great sense of humor. We met shortly after each of us got married. We became great friends as did our wives and children. I have fond memories about our friendship. He will be missed by all of us.

To the Fred Tixier family: Fil and I will always cherish the memories of raising our kids together. Playing penny ante poker, going to the Conejos river and of course the Fiestas. Who can forget the La Fonda during the fiestas. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. Fred will be missed by all.

I moved to Santa Fe for my junior year, and Fred was one of the first to hold out a welcome hand. That was Fred, always smiling and always friendly. We went on to have some great adventures in High School, on the wrestling team, and at our high school graduation kegger at Fred's. I was able to see him a few times when I was back from college. When my mother was ill, and before she moved to Fort Collins, I reconnected with him in 1989- he was the same good old Fred. I dodn'y get back to Santa Fe much after that. Judy, several years later, my wife and I and some friends ran into you guys at the restaurant in Chimayo. Fred was a great guy, and our the years, I have remembered him fondly. Cherish the great memories and know that Fred touched so many lives in a positive way.

We graduated the same year from Santa Fe High School. :"Peanuts" was my great "kissing cousin" -- his father Fred was a first cousin of my Uncle Fonce Tixier (uncle by marriage). Thus we called each other "kissing cousins" though we never kissed. Peanuts was a good friend & a buddy. My deepest condolences to his family and many friends.

My deepest sympathies to the Tixer family – my memories of golfing with Fred will always be great – especially knowing that he was responsible for my golfing nickname ‘Hacksaw’. I heard the following joke the other day and strangely enough he came to mind – his humor among countless things will be missed by many.
Adios Amigo – ‘Hacksaw’
A hack golfer spends a day at a plush country club, playing golf & enjoying the luxury of a complimentary caddy. Being a hack golfer, he plays poorly all day. Round about the 18th hole, he spots a lake off to the left of the fairway. He looks at the caddy and says, "I've played so poorly all day, I think I'm going to go drown myself in that lake."
The caddy looks back at him and says, "I don't think you could keep your head down that long."
