Carolyn Poggi Obituary

Carolyn Poggi
Carolyn Poggi, age 64, a lifelong resident of Santa Maria went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 15th, 2010. Carolyn passed away of natural causes at Marian Medical Center.
Born May 27, 1946 in Santa Maria to Elwood (Slim) and Elva Ruth Prettyman (nee Miller), Carol attended Orcutt area schools and Santa Maria High School. After high school Carol entered the local workforce in a variety of occupations until she met and married her husband Allan.
Carolyn's favorite sport was bowling. She was a member of the California Women's 600 club; an achievement of which she was very proud. Carol had a genuine love for children of all ages. Up until illness forced her to stop, she volunteered her time as the director of the Rancho Bowl Junior Bowler Program for a number of years. While director she coordinated bowling leagues for bowlers ranging in age from 5 to 22 years old, in addition she also made arrangements for the junior bowlers to attend State tournaments from San Diego to Sacramento.
Carolyn truly loved her church family. There are some very special ladies at First Baptist Church that came and ministered to Carol daily in the real meaning of Christian love and dedication and the family would like to extend a very special thank you for all that you have done for Carol. It was a blessing that can never be repaid.
Carol was preceded in death by her Parents, sister Lynda Kurtze and granddaughter Brianna. She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years Allan, stepson Bobby & wife Tonya, stepdaughter Gina and husband Phil, son Tim and wife Kelly, daughter Kim, grandsons Corey, Joshua, Randy and Robbie, granddaughters Ashley, Audrey, Jessica, Tessa, Brittni, Heather and Carolyn and great-grandson Damen and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be at Dudley Hoffman Mortuary, 1003 E. Stowell Rd., Santa Maria, CA, Tuesday, November 23, 2010 from 4:00-7:00PM.
Funeral Services will be at First Baptist Church, 2970 Santa Maria Way, Santa Maria, CA on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 1:00PM with a graveside service to follow at the Santa Maria Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Rancho Junior Bowlers Program c/o Rancho Bowl, Santa Maria, CA or the Faith Promise Missions Fund c/o First Baptist Church, Santa Maria, CA
Arrangements are under the direction of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary, Crematory and Memory Gardens.

I first met Carolyn in vacation bible school. We got together again as teenagers and were forever friends no matter what. I am quite sure she will be there to greet me at Heaven's gate.
