I had the great pleasure of working with Walter as co-counsel on a matter a few years back. As a carpetbagging young attorney from the North, he and Ty Butler showed me the ropes in a Georgia courtroom and around Savannah. I was amazed by his intellect, wit and charm. A true gentleman and an excellent attorney. I still think of him often and was saddened to learn recently of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Hartridge family and all of Walter's many friends.

I had the rare privilege to meet Walter late in life and to welcome him to my home in Savannah in which Walter himself lived and grew up in as a young boy. The house was built by his great grandfather, Captan John Hopkins in 1862. His recall of history was flawless and fascinating. He will be missed.
