Floyd E. Aungst, 77, of Auburn, passed away Monday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street, Pottsville.

Floyd was born in Cressona on April 18, 1934. He was a son of the late Lloyd and Helen Ebert Aungst.

He was the husband of Mary Lou Smith Aungst. The couple was married for 53 years.

He was a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ, Cressona.

Mr. Aungst served in the Army in its tank unit.

He worked at Auburn Brickyard from 1958 to 1968 and later worked for Craftex Mills, retiring in 1995.

He was a member of the Auburn Memorial Park Association and a social member of the Auburn Fire Company.

Floyd was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Aungst, formerly of Homassa, Fla.

Floyd is survived by a daughter, Ronda, wife of Eric Zimmerman, Orwigsburg; grandchildren, James B. Chadwick IV, Orwigsburg, Alex T. Chadwick, Orwigsburg, Ryan F. Lazaravage, Scranton, Nathan D. Zimmerman; a sister, Gladys Killian, Orwigsburg; a brother, Theodore, husband of Margie Aungst, Benton; nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., 25 E. Main St., Schuylkill Haven, with the Rev. Nathan Druckenmiller officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. until the time of service. The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Joseph Center, 2010 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18504. Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc. has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family in care of www.gsesfuneralhomes.com.
