Albert Stancavage Obituary

Albert C. Stancavage, 91, formerly of Minersville and Pottsville, passed away Tuesday afternoon at Cox Medical Center, Springfield, Mo.

Born in Minersville, he was a son of the late August and Eva Kubilus Stancavage.

He was employed in the local anthracite industry and later worked for Rothermel Dairy, Minersville. He left the area in 1969, returning to make his home with his wife in Pottsville in 1991, where he lived until two years ago when he moved to Missouri.

He was a member of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church, Minersville, and the church Holy Name Society.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, the former Grace Nagle, in 2004; a brother, John; and a sister, Mary Rozansky.

Surviving are a son, Charles, Anaheim, Calif.; a daughter, Joan Kellett, Battlefield, Mo.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anne Peterson, Paulsboro, N.J., Magdalen Brennan and Joan Stancavage, both of Minersville; and nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Matthew the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Minersville. The Rev. Leo J. Maletz will officiate. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. There will be no calling hours Sunday evening. Interment will be in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Branch Township. Dutcavich Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

August 5, 2008: Just returned home and saw that Mr. Stancavage had passed on. Our sincere sympathy to his family. Charlie, Joan and Maggie, we are so sorry we were not here to attend his service. He will forever be with you in your hearts.
