David John Balder, Sr., 71

Bovey, MN

David John Balder, Sr., age 71 of rural Bovey, MN, died Sunday, April 13, 2014 at his home. David was born in 1943 to Ellsworth and Alvina Balder in St. Cloud, MN and grew up and attended schools in Foley, MN.

David was united in marriage to Yvonne "Bonnie" Mortensen on June 2, 1962. He retired in 2004 after dairy farming for 42 years in Foley, MN. Ten years ago, they moved to the lake in rural Bovey, MN. During retirement, David enjoyed fishing, hunting, RVing, playing cards and 4-wheeling.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Mary Farley and Lucietta Stang.

David is survived by his wife, Bonnie; children, Lisa Balder of Robbinsville, NJ, Pam Balder of Clear Lake, MN, Bill (Kristy) Balder of Goodland, MN, Robin (Bruce) Balder-Lanoue of Monticello, MN, Terry Balder of Monticello, MN, Rachel (William) Balder of Columbus, MN and Dave Balder, Jr. of Monticello, MN; siblings, Teresa (Leo) Moore of Cold Spring, MN, Carol (Ernie) Jurek of Watertown, SD, Doris (Leonard) Powell of Pierre, SD, Bernard (Charlene) Balder of Cold Spring, MN, and Jim (Bertie) Balder of New Hope, MN; grandchildren, Katie Cooley, Jake Wakeman, and Paige Balder-Lanoue; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of David's Life will be Saturday, April 19th at 11 am at Jack & Jim's Event Center in Duelm, MN.
