Pat Parnell, (and Ms. West) taught a rather intense American Civ class at JEN Stuart High School. From day one, she made it clear that she had a passion for poetry and thinking that was deep and unflinching. I think she was quite fearless, and challenging. She expected us to really work at poetry and language. I have to say the extremely well-worn book of poetry from her class remains with me, and I now read to my daughter from it, which might please her to know. My sincere condolences to the family.

To my friend Pat's family...
I worked with Pat at White Pines College and found a wonderful co-worker in the field of education and learning. I was the librarian for two years and, together, we worked very long and hard helping the students gain confidence in writing and communicating their thoughts. She was an inspiration to all, as we worked with Elderhostel participants as well. God bless her for sharing her talents in so many wonderful ways. My prayers and sympathy to you all.
