Juris ANDREIKA Obituary

Juris K. ANDREIKA Juris was born January 27, 1937 in Aluksne, Latvia, the last of four children born to Fricis Andreika and lrma Suta. He passed away March 14, 2012 at home in Seattle, WA and was looking forward to joining his parents, his beloved sister, Ieva Andreika, and his two brothers, Janis and Mintauts Andreika. The family left Latvia in November of 1944 and moved to Germany. After World War II, they immigrated to the United States, settling first in Tacoma for a short time and then in Seattle for the rest of their lives. They were all very proud of their American citizenship. Juris graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Washington in 1962 and then went on to work over forty years for the Boeing Company. He worked primarily on training devices for both the military and commercial divisions and ended his career working with flight simulators. He was extremely happy with his chosen path and made many, many friends along the way. In 2008 Juris finally met the woman of his dreams and married her three years later. During their all too brief time together, he and Patricia enjoyed a trip to Latvia to introduce her to his relatives and sightsee with them. Pat introduced him to the world of cruising and he was delighted with those trips as well. Juris is survived by his loving wife, her two children, Marc and Stephanie, and four grandchildren. His niece, Karin and her son, Leo, plus his former sister-in-law, Wivan Andreika of Sweden. Also, his goddaughter, Julija Faltens and her sister Daira Waldenberg (Mark), of Seattle. And his cousin, Helene Bergmane of Latvia and her extended family, including Valentina Suta (widow of Juris' cousin, Janis) also of Latvia. Juris enjoyed people but hated crowds. He had a wonderful dry sense of humor and a fantastic memory. Juris was extremely gentle, kind and thoughtful. He had a passion for photography and computers. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved him. There will be no services per his request. He asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church of Seattle: 11710 - 3rd Avenue N.E., Seattle, WA 98125.

I am so sorry to hear of Juris' passing. A very kind soul that felt like family, especially since I live so far away from mine. We shared our love of cats. I am so happy that his final days was spent with someone like Patricia to love him and support him.

Having worked with Juris from the early 1980's through to his retirement, I have many fond memories - of his professionalism, his easy-going temperment, his wonderful sense of humor, always putting others needs ahead of his own. It has been my privilege that he is a part of my life.

I've known Juris (Or, George as we knew him)since I was about two years old! I am now almost 63! His Mom, Irma, worked with my Mom, Ethel Warren as nurses at Providence Hospital for many, many years. I loved the entire family. George/Juris was a dear and wonderful man. He was always devoted to his family. I am so thrilled that he found his true love late in life. That makes me feel so good! Thank you Patricia and family for making him so happy! Sincerely, Laurie Nightingale

I had the pleasure of working with Juris up through his retirement at Boeing. Even after he retired, Juris would attend our monthly birthday luncheons, bringing Pat along for all of us to meet. It was obvious they enjoyed each other, and their travels. And of course, Juris would be snapping pictures at any event he attended that he would later share with us. We were all certainly blessed to have worked with and become friends with this kind, soft spoken and gentle man.
