A.H. Feige Obituary

A.H. (Al) Feige, Jr.

Age 86, of Seattle, died peacefully at his home overlooking Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains on October 22, 2017, following a severe stroke. Born in Redwood City, CA to A.H. Feige and Eva Bonetti Feige, he attended San Mateo High School and received his degree in Architecture at the University of Washington, where he met his wife of 45 years. He married Carole Jane Long in 1960 and had three daughters.

He launched his own business, Feige Design & Construction Co. in Seattle and built both residential and commercial buildings, including Tahoma Vista Shopping Center in Tacoma and a beautiful addition to the family home. Later, he owned Sagstad Marina and focused on real estate.

Al loved to travel, and while he was stationed in the Air Force in Wiesbaden, Germany, he toured Europe in his red convertible MG TF1500. He made annual trips to Hawaii, and to Alaska to visit his beloved grandchildren. Until months ago, he still enjoyed both domestic and international travel. He loved the theater and opera, and was a skilled tennis player. He was a longtime member of Sand Point Country Club, and enjoyed entertaining there. His faith and his lifelong friendships were important to him.

He was a gentle and present father and was proud of his three daughters: Margaret Feige, Seattle; Ann Anderson and her husband John, Homer, Alaska; and Jane Sage and her husband Tom Olbrich, Portland, Oregon. He will be missed by grandchildren Espen, Brita and Leif Restad, Homer, Alaska; and step-grandchildren Kimia, Krystal and Kaveh Anderson. He was Uncle Al to Janet, Carolyn, Duane, Dave, Sue, Donald, Daryl, Geoff, Carol, Bonnie, James, Janet, Jerry, Kathy, John, Dan, Donna, Julie and their families. The family would like to thank his friend Anna Gretz, who helped take care of Al for years, until the very end.

A memorial service will be held at United Church, 1420 NW 80th Street, Seattle 98117, at 2:00pm on Friday, October 27th, with reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local hospice.
