A man of honor and integrity, with a sense of humor and always had a joke to tell. A man who loved his family and was a quiet strong presence of strength and security for his children. He was my father. Thanks for all you gave me!

Edited part of the original version:
Growing up during the depression he knew of families that ate sparrows to live while his mother left a mark on her door step left by hobos for where to find a meal. This is not to say he came from a wealthy home in troubled times, but a great one. By all accounts, he was an excellent student, sung in his school choir, enjoyed painting, and loved model airplanes from an early age. He also would hitch hike for miles to roller-skate in the evenings. His father a carpenter showed him how to use tools and finish a floor so smooth a tossed rag would glide across a room. He came to the state of Washington during service in the Army during WWII and was stationed at Fort Lewis. Honorably Discharged in September 1947, he saw no combat service, and missed deployment to South Korea with his platoon by a matter of weeks. After living again shortly in Iowa he returned with his family and started to work for Safeco Insurance, but eventually found his most enjoyable career at the Washington State Surveying and Rating Bureau. His interest in model airplanes brought him to be one of the founding members and field investors of the Snohomish Radio Aeromodellers Club (www.sracinc.com/) and it gave him a lifetime of enjoyment and exceptional friends.
