Alan Limesand Obituary

Alan Limesand

Alan Bradford Limesand was born on March 29, 1960 in Shelby, Montana. He graduated from Chester High School in Chester, Montana and then received a teaching degree from Montana State University. After teaching in Nevada and Montana, he moved to California and worked for the California Department of Food and Agriculture. While working for the CDFA in San Diego, he met and married his wife, Mitzi. After their marriage, Al worked for the Immigration and Naturalization Service in Texas, Chicago, and Milwaukee. Returning to San Diego, he obtained a Master's degree in Guidance Counseling and then worked as a school counselor in White Sulfur Springs, Montana, until moving to Seattle in 2007. Al then worked for several years as a courier for Barton Family Funeral Service. He was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2012 and passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on March 21, 2015.

Al loved travel, hiking, history, and spending time with his family. He had an unending curiosity about almost every aspect of life, even insisting cheerfully that every meal out be eaten in a new restaurant. He is survived by his wife, Mitzi; his mother, Betty; three brothers, Gary (Connie), Kip (Sarah), and Mark (Tina); his sister, Kay Jorgensen (Dan); as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Al and his sense of humor will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Remembrances may be made to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

Mitzi: I am so sorry to hear of your loss. The loss you've suffered will eventually happen to many of us. But I know your resilience will carry you through and you will ultimately do well and succeed at whatever tasks lie ahead of you. Hopefully, those within your sphere of influence will have the good fortune of remembering your resilience as an example to help them through difficult times they also might face in the future. Thank you for the time we shared together.

I will always treasure the times Alan and I had lunch together (in between his cancer treatments) when we would discuss various issues in life. He was a question generator by nature.
