Mary Tallent Obituary

Mary Katherine Tallent

September 10, 1923 ~ May 17, 2016

Mary was born in Taft California to Otto and Mary Zeller, the fourth of five children. After corresponding with Willis Tallent for two and a half years, she met him for the first time on April 16, 1944 when he returned from the Pacific. They were married twenty five days later on May 11, 1944. They just celebrated 72 years together. Mary loved bowling. She was on a bowling team "The Five Stinkers" while working for Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach California. Mary loved to sew for her family and friends. She sewed dresses for her daughters, granddaughters and great granddaughters as well as many wedding dresses for friends and family. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses along with her husband Willis and daughter Linda on September 15, 1962.

She was a faithful servant of Jehovah for more than 53 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her half brother Johnny Steiger, brothers Otto and Joseph Zeller, sister Rosemary Butler and grandson Aaron Fox. She is survived by her husband Willis, son Bill Tallent (Lois), daughters Linda Fox, Monica Adamitz (Richard), and grandchildren Victoria Walter (Rick), Joel Fox (Janet), Heather Alderson (Aaron), Monica Swanson (Greg), Nick Adamitz (Dione), Brian Adamitz, Crystal Cousineau (Bryan) and Will Tallent. Also seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held June 4th 2016 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 211 3rd Ave, Pacific, WA at 4:00 pm.

Willis and Mary Tallent were fine Christian grandparents to me. I spent weekends growing up in the back of their light blue station wagon facing backwards in service, usually sitting next to Monica or sometimes Heather and Crystal. Most of the time we would go to Bun's donut shop for our coffee break. The Tallents were a rock of solid faith, always loyal and dependable. Mary and Willis truly loved my sister Missy and spoke so kindly to her every time they saw her. Will and Mary Tallent were good friends to my parents and looking back, I know they did a lot more for my family than I could understand when I was young. Mary was my Mom (Joan Brown's) dearest friend from Washington and I think of Mary fondly. Thank you to the Tallent and Fox families for everything. You were always there for us.
