Jay Anderson Obituary

Jay S. Anderson

Jay S. Anderson was born in Seattle in 1939 and passed away in Ventura, CA, on September 30 at the age of 78, after 13 years with chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

Jay grew up on Green Lake and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1957. He earned his B.A. in Architecture from UW and practiced architecture in Honolulu for more than 25 years. He enjoyed hiking, swimming and fishing in Hawaii; when he retired he mastered winemaking and golf, earning three holes-in-one. He was also a practicing Buddhist with close ties to the Dharma Center in Hawaii.

He is survived by his wife Marsha (nee Petersen), son Max and granddaughter Amelia of Seattle, son Mark (Caroline) and grandsons Ethan and Tate of Honolulu, stepchildren Geoff and Melissa Rapp, as well as his sister, Judy Morgan. He is also survived by his nephew John Morgan and niece Molly Apel and her family.

A memorial service is planned for February in Honolulu. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Planned Parenthood or Kagyu Thegchen Ling Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Center, Honolulu. His body was donated to UCLA Medical School; his spirit is off on his next adventure.

To the Anderson Family: My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
