Charles Kaysner Obituary

Charles Henry KAYSNER 92, former Mayor of Bothell, passed away peacefully April16, 2003 at his home, Rivergrove, in Bothell. Charlie was born August 9, 1910 in Grand Marais, MI. to William and Martha (Smart) Kaysner. He grew up on the farm in Curtis, MI. in the Upper Peninsula. In 1935 he came to the Seattle area and soon met his future bride. He married Gladys Schillestad in the garden at Rivergrove on August 20, 1939. Charlie and Gladys moved to Bothell in1941 from Tacoma. He was an owner of Bothell Automotive Supply, Inc from soon after W.W. II until 1972. Charlie also worked as a mechanic for the City of Bothell and was a volunteer firefighter for the Bothell Fire Dept. He was a 50+ year member of the Bothell United Methodist Church, the Bothell Lions Club, the Royal Arch Ashler Lodge No. 121 F & AM, and the AOUW Evergreen Lodge. He served as Mayor of Bothell from 1951 to 1964 after serving on the City Council for three years. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, brothers William, George and Joseph, and sisters Dorothy Haggerty, Edith McLeod, Marie Guthrie, and Genevieve Staus. Charlie is survived by his sister, Bertha Osborn, Sault Ste. Marie, MI. and brother-in-law, Floyd Guthrie, Weaverville, CA., daughters Marlynn McLaughlin, Mountlake Terrace and Kathy (Larry) Buck, Bothell and son Chuck (Genie), Bothell, grandchildren, Teri (Brad) Grekoff, Stanwood, Tami Tiffany, Bothell, Darin (Teresa) Kaysner, Vancouver, WA., and Brent (M'Lissa) Kaysner, Snohomish, and great-grandchildren Dan and Kelly Grekoff, Devin Tiffany, Payten and Cole Kaysner, and Kody James and Delaney Kaysner, and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Charlie's life will be held at the Bothell United Methodist Church, 18515 - 92nd Ave. N.E. at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 24 following a private Burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Bothell Lions Club or the Bothell Fire Department. Arrangements made by Bothell Funeral Home.
