Betty Jean Eickhoff
COLE CAMP — Betty Jean Eickhoff, 89, of Cole Camp, died Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Good Samaritan Care Center, Cole Camp. She was born on July 6, 1927, in Sedalia, Missouri, a daughter of Leonard and Anna Mae (Carlson) Shepard.
She grew up in Sedalia and on May 17, 1945, graduated from Smith-Cotton High School. She enjoyed roller skating in the park and met her future husband, E. L. while skating.
On June 25, 1953, at First Baptist Church in Sedalia, she was united in marriage to E. L. Eickhoff. The couple made their home in Cole Camp.
Until her retirement, she was an inspector for Lamy's Manufacturing in Sedalia. Betty and E. L. owned Eickhoff Furniture in Cole Camp. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 305, the 40 & 8, Cole Camp Historical Society, Hump Pilots Association, and China-Burma-India Veterans Association. Betty loved her cows and spent many hours baling hay with her old Cub tractor.
She is survived by: her husband, E. L. Eickhoff of the home, a sister, Lucille Meyers of Sedalia; a brother, James L. Shepard of Sedalia; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Dorothy Sands, Ruth Epley, and Mary Webb.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at First United Methodist Church, Cole Camp, with Pastor Tanner Wiley officiating. Burial will be in Eickhoff Cemetery, Cole Camp.
A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the church with visitation to follow.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the First United Methodist Church and Eickhoff Cemetery in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.
Pallbearers will be Danny Weller, Chuck Meyers, Andy Burt, Mike Webb, Jim Kreisel, Bob Brown, Jeff Lutjen, and Charlie Cordes.
