Lisa and family,
I just found out about Jay after all this time and felt compelled to leave a note. Anyone who worked with Jay would almost certainly remember him as one of the most influential people in their careers. He was larger than life. My wife met him just once back in the Forte days and remembers today exactly what he looked like and what he said in their 10 minute conversation. It didn't surprise me. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

I only knew Jay for about a month, yet we became friends immediately. I believe that you only meet a few very special people in your life, and Jay was one of them for me. I had just had a beer with Jay on 10/13 to discuss business opportunities between Intel/oQo in Palo Alto. He was so excited to meet his family at his favorite place (the bike shop) and then go for dinner. I can't believe that he is gone.

My deepest condolences to the Shiveley family.

For years I bragged about placing the first sales rep in Minneapolis for Oracle, Jay Shiveley! Being able to say I've known Jay and worked with him over some years has been a true honor. I think of him often and have used my "Jay Story" as an example to many people on how to succeed in life. He truly was gifted. My heart aches for your families loss. May the memories of Jay give you strength through this sad time.

Lisa,
My family and I are thinking of you and the kids as you absorb this shocking loss. Jay was an extraordinary character, and I enjoyed our time together at Forte very much. We had lunch just a couple of months ago, after not seeing each other for several yeas. He was very excited about the new company, his biking, Keaton's skiing, and the family's other goings-on. It was great to see him so happy and fulfilled. We will all miss him very much.

It is hard to think of so much energy and intelligence taken away too soon. I know not being with his family will be his greatest frustration as it was when he was working.
