CARMEN MONTEZ "CONNIE" VASQUEZ

passed away October 24, 2010 at Villa Mesa Nursing Home in Upland surrounded by family after battling Huntington's disease. Born July 16, 1932 in Cucamonga to Esteben and Juana Montez. She graduated in 1949 from Chaffey High school, received her teaching credentials in 1964 from Cal Poly Pomona and received a Masters in Education from United States International University in 1986. Carmen was married to Alejo L. Vasquez and would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on October 27. Together they have 5 children: Juan (Maria) of Alta Loma, Steve of Alta Loma, Anthony (Rita) of Alta Loma, Judi (Alan) Wapner of Ontario and Frank "Puppet" Montez of Cucamonga, 11 grand- children and 5 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by daughter Louisa Vasquez and her sisters Vera Ornelas, Sally Gonzalez and Ofelia Aguilar. Carmen enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren play baseball, softball and volleyball. She also enjoyed traveling with Alejo while he played slow pitch softball with the Jets softball and Chino Senior Softball. She loved playing the piano for church, painting and macrame. Carmen taught elementary school for Alta Loma School District for 27 years. She belonged to the Sociedad Protecotra Femenil, Inc. Viewing is from 4pm - 5pm and visitation 5pm - 8pm with Rosary at 6 on Friday, October 29 at Draper Chapel. Mass October 30 is at 10am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Rancho Cucamonga.
