JOHN SALVESEN Obituary

n Loving Memory of John Salvesen Loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather (Bestefar), great- grandfather, and friend, Sigurd Johny Salvesen passed away on Sunday October 24th, 2010. John was born in Norway October 18th 1926. John helped to raise his brother, Siggie and sister, Bea in Norway during WWII, until 1947 when he immigrated to the states. In 1949, John returned to Norway to marry the love of his life, Arna. John and Arna eventually moved to Redlands, started their life together and had two beautiful children, Joan and Artie. John established Redlands Mattress in 1952 and the business flourished until his retirement in 2006. In the last few moments of John's life, he was surrounded by his loving family reminiscing over memories and pictures of his life. John was a strong and loving man, who lived to take care of his family. He loved his Norwegian Heritage, and had a work ethic that no one has ever known. He came to this country with nothing, and built a life and a family out of love and hard work, but he never forgot where he came from. John leaves behind his beautiful wife of sixty-one years, Arna; sister Bea; brother Siggie; daughter Joan and her son Casey White and Son Art (Margie Cole), Kate Salvesen and their daughters Patty Salvesen Spurlock (Evan Spurlock), Krissy Salvesen; and great-grandchildren Maddox and Ella White. He will be missed greatly, and will live on through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A private gathering will be held on Friday to celebrate John's life. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Boys and Girls Club of Redlands. Until we meet again, John, we love and miss you!
