JOYCE GALLAHER Obituary

JOYCE LAVERNE GALLAHER Joyce Gallaher died on November 24, 2010, at the age of 84. Joyce was born June 9, 1926, on a small farm in Fairfield, Illinois, to Cornelius and Kathryn (Keen) McGunnigal. Joyce moved to Los Gatos, California, at age fourteen, and graduated in 1944 from Los Gatos High School. She attended college before moving to San Bernardino, where she lived for 62 years. In 1951 Joyce married Robert (Bob) D. Gallaher, co-owner of Gallaher Beauty Supply. Bob and Joyce were married fifty years until his passing in 2002. Preceding her in death were her sister and brother-in-law, Velva and Jerry Gallaher, and mother, Kathryn, and step-father, Harold Kelly. Joyce is survived by her sister, Kathryn (Peg) Jenkins, and brother-in-law, Merril Jenkins of Newport Beach, California. Joyce has two daughters, Carol Gallaher of Washington and Kristy Miller (husband John) of Highland, California. Joyce's grandchildren are Robert and Kathryn Wollney, Sarah (husband Clint) Knipscheer, Bethany (husband Daniel) Coe, Amy (husband Jacob) Wright and Jared Miller. Joyce was delighted to have two great grandchildren, Connor and Maddison Joyce. Joyce lived a long, happy life filled with friends and family who adored her. She had a practical approach to life, wonderful sense of humor and generous, loving nature. Joyce was a long-time member of Arrowhead Country Club and a Life Master bridge player. She also enjoyed traveling and sports, but mostly spending time with her many friends and extensive family. We will miss her every day and look forward to seeing her again in heaven. A Memorial will be held Friday, December 3rd at Mt. View Cemetery, 570 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino, Calif. at 1:30 P.M. The family requests that people wear something sparkly to Joyce's memorial in honor of her life well-lived. Donations may be sent to Hospice in Joyce's memory.
