Mitchell Guffey Obituary
RUTHERFORDTON- Mitchell Guffey, age 57, of Rutherfordton, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Oct. the 4, 2014. Mitchell was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Mitchell was the son to the late Elijah Guffey, and the late Frances Koone.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Kim Guffey; stepmother Zola Guffey, stepfather Clyde Koone; daughters Kelly Reynolds (Chad), Kim Gettys (Chris); stepdaughters Amanda Waters, Megan Washburn (Chris), Heather Morrison; stepsister Grace Clark; sister-in-law Susan Guffey; grandchildren Caitlynn Reynolds, Carsyn Reynolds, Reese Gettys, Tenley Gettys, Hayden Thomson, Hannah Thomson, Kaleigh Parker, and Gavin Parker; ten nieces and nephews; in addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Michael Guffey, and stepsister Freda Dial; stepsister Debbie Crain; niece Brandy Guffey.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Crowe's Mortuary.
Funeral Service: Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene.
Officiated By: Rev. Dale Austin.
Funeral Home: Crowe Mortuary is serving the family.
Memorials: Hospice of Rutherford County, P.O. Box 336 Forest City, N.C. 28043.

I am reminded of the words of
a precious song......"It's hard to lose a loved one to the grave, but we have the blessed hope that JESUS gave; GOD'S gonna wipe every tear from our eyes, when we meet HIM in that land beyond the skies."
Kim, HEAVEN is Sweeter today because Mitchell is waiting for you there.
My heart was broken to receive the news. We immediately began praying for you. Our church is also praying for you and your family.
Brother Randy and I are available if you should need anything.at all.

Even though I didn't get to see Mitch often because we live in VA, he was always one of my favorite cousins. So likeable and such a winning smile...This was such a tragic incident, and my heart goes out to Mitch's family and friends.
