You are not forgotten. I miss the talks we used to have about your days in the Army Air Corps. Sometimes you took forever to tell the story, and at times I was too impatient to sit and listen. But I always sat anyway....... I'm glad I did. I miss you too.

You lit up so many lives in days gone by. Missing you, it's hard not to just sit and cry. We are all on this earth for a short time not to stay; so, when the Master calls we must be on our way. Daddy, one year has past and everyday our thoughts and memories are of you. You made the world a better place, through the life you lived. You were so loved and are so missed. Until then!

"Chief Suttle" as we called you at Southern University at Shreveport (MLK area), your presence truely will be missed. You brought such joy to coming to work each and every day. More than ever, you gave such kind words of comfort to young spirits during the 80's & 90's. May the angels keep you safe in their arms.

You will be dearly missed.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Sammie Suttle, Sr. our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Mr. Suttle. And to Mr. Suttle it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during WW-II while serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Mr. Suttle we bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,452 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Mr. Suttle’s family and loved ones.

A Loving Father--In Remembrance & So Loved. You have been there for me throughout the years--the good, the bad, the happy and the sad. I thank God for the 84 years He has allowed you to share your life, love, and Christian teaching. You are now at peace with the God you loved and served. It's okay to go "Daddy", I got this!
