For years, I heard about Elizabeth Harrison from Curtistine Earnest, who simply referred to her as "my friend Elizabeth". Little did I know that Elizabeth, and her family, would have such an impact on my life. Her sweet mom taught both of my sons, Adam and Andrew, at Broadmoor Baptist Preschool. God bless her for that! And then, Elizabeth carried on the teaching legacy and taught Adam his junior year in the team class at Captain Shreve. We thought that was so neat, that he had both mother and daughter for teachers! Adam is now almost 24 and is living in Moscow, Russia teaching English. While we were on vacation last week, he called me to tell me about Elizabeth passing away. He told me about a time when she was talking about the word "motif" and how he told her that he thought that was such a funny word because it sounded like "mo teeth" as in "more teeth". She later told him she couldn't teach the lesson to her next class because she was laughing so much thinking about what he had said. He told me she was "great, funny, intelligent, and on the short list of his all time favorite teachers." Please know how very sorry we are that she is gone, but it has been our honor to have been a tiny part of her well-lived life. We wish you and your family strength and peace.

To the Harrison family,
It is not often that you can trace the influence of someone directly to the life path one of your children. I can do that with Elizabeth and Jeremy, my son. She was his 4th grade teacher at Southfield School (which was where I first met her) and her encouragement and love for these children was such a blessing. She was instrumental I believe in the choice he made to major in journalism at college. My daughter Elizabeth was taught by Elizabeth H. in the 3rd grade and once again she encouraged her to reach for the stars.
I loved Elizabeth for many reasons and will cherish many wonderful memories. I am rejoicing for her that she has crossed the last barrier and will forever be in the presence of the Saviour. I pray for you through the missing of such a vital force. May God carry you in His everlasting arms.

God has blessed me so by knowing Elizabeth...she will always be such a major part of my Captain Shreve/Baylor experience. I'm only sorry that it took her illness for us to spend the time to rekindle our friendship. I'll write you a longer letter later, I just wanted you to know that the service touched me deeply; it was so God-honoring. You are in my prayers and I love you both!

Dear Johnny and Betty:
Elizabeth, her name means "The Gift of God". I did not know her, but in reading this Guest Book, I can she that she was, indeed, God's Gift not only to you two, but to all who came in contact with her.
I was so saddened to get the email from Belvin when I returned from visiting my sister in California. May the Holy Spirit comfort you and your family in this time of loss. God Bless and keep you both.

I worked in Human Resources at Charter Forest Hospital when Elizabeth worked there and she was a very kind, compassionate, professional person. Although I have not seen Elizabeth since that time I feel very fortunate to have known her. She is now living in God's home and will suffer no more. May God bless all of her family during this time.

My sweet friend has achieved what I have yet to gain. Not to imagine; but, to know what it is to be in the Father's presence.

The service yesterday was amazing and just how Elizabeth would have wanted it to be! I laughed more than I cried, although I did plenty of both! From the "Chri-ma" party comment (I do remember her excellent imitation abilities) to the story of how Mr Harrison did as David (worshipped the Lord) after his son had died in 2 Samuel, I was overwhelmed with the legacy Elizabeth left, the lives she touched and the joy she now knows fully in the presence of our Lord. Know that the symphony of prayer continues as we lift up the family in perfect harmony. We love you and look forward to reunion with Elizabeth in glory. Jennifer Patton

Dear Harrison family,
I just learned this morning that Elizabeth has gone to be with the Lord. I am so sorry! I did not even know she had been sick. I met her while I was on staff at Broadmoor (1984-85), and even at that young age she made a great impression upon me. My life is richer for having known her. May the Father show Himself to be the God of all comfort to you in these days.

I met Elizabeth through the Cross Bayou Emmaus Community. She was such a ball of energy...and so much fun to serve with on the walks. Elizabeth was so REAL. You could always tell, without a doubt, that she didnt just talk the talk,...she walked the walk. We are all so BLESSED to have known her. What a beautiful legacy left by such a beautiful Christian woman. I will always remember her.

Dear Harrison Family,
I am sorry to hear of Elizabeth's passing, but at the same time I rejoice that she is now dancing with the angels and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I had the privilege of working on a Walk to Emmaus staff with Elizabeth. What a sweet, sweet spirit she had. She made a lasting impression on me as I know she did many others whose paths she crossed. There will never be another woman like her. May God bless your family during the coming days with his everlasting love and his peace beyond our human understanding. Shalom.

My prayers go to all of Elizabeth's family. I had the privilege of being Spiritual Directors on several Walk to Emmaus teams on which Elizabeth also served. She was a outstanding Christian woman whose faith defined who she was. Let me say "so long, Elizabeth. I'll see you again in the home that is eternal." Ray Holt

Although we did not know Elizabeth personally, we were inspired by her wonderful testimony that she gave at Broadmoor. Her life meant so much to many, and you have to be extremely proud of the way she lived and died. May God give you peace until you see her again, welcoming you to share her eternal home in Heaven.

Harrison Family: Rarely do we meet someone so genuine we think "I want to be just like her." But the time that I was at Broadmoor, I esteemed to be just like Elizabeth. Brook Boddie had sent me the link of her victory speach at Broadmoor a couple years ago. Since that time, I have continually prayed for her and you... what a woman... what a legacy.

I was so very sad to hear of Elizabeth's death. I worked with her at Charter Hospital and have never met such a loving and kind person. As she faced her battle, I was amazed at her courage and strength, and that her spirit was still soaring. To her family now, remember that God does not make mistakes and Elizabeth is now and forever in the arms of Jesus. How truly blessed we all were to have known her. My prayers will be with this family in the coming days ahead. Take special care!

I met Elizabeth several years ago when she taught one of the Charter classes for the nighttime BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) held at St. Mark's. She made such a lasting impression with me in that short amount of time and I never forgot her. She had such a gentle spirit and challenged me and inspired me in a way that I had never experienced before. My faith grew stronger through Elizabeth.
I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I pray that you will find some comfort in knowing that she touched my life in the short period of time I knew her at BSF.

To the Harrison Family and Friends:
How sad I was to hear of Elizabeth's passing. I did not know her personally, she was my son's English teach and taught his 2007 KGTR class. He spoke very highly of her often. When the class found out she had cancer, they were devastated. Jason spoke of her so much, I felt I knew her. He told me of the night of 2007 ShowBoat when the Senior class got together and sang "The Heart of Life" by John Mayer and how they all cried. He came to me Saturday and I could tell he was down. He said he had a funeral to attend, Ms. Harrison's. May God's peace and comfort be with you all at this time and know always that she was loved.

Elizabeth and I met each other through mutual friends of ours at First Baptist Bossier and Broadmoor and the Walk to Emmaus. I met her about three years ago at a birthday party. A bunch of us were going to eat fish and she and I sat by each other on the van. I immediately knew that there was something special about her. She always had a smile on her face and you could tell that she was truly loved and respected by everyone. Since she has been sick, there has not been a day that I have not thought of her and prayed for her. I will never forget what an inspiration she was to everyone the day she gave her testimony at Broadmoor. She truly is an angel and is wearing the crown of righteousness. My prayers are with your family and her dear friends.
She will be greatly missed.

Elizabeth was a ture light of encouragement to all that knew her. She helped me through some difficult career decisions and supported me when I wasn't sure if I should support myself. I will be forever grateful that God brought her into my life. She will be deeply missed and forever glorified.

I knew Ms. Elizabeth through my parents, Steve and Dee Hunt and Cross Bayou Emmaus/Chrysalis. Listening to her testimonial at First Baptist Bossier about a year ago you could hear in her voice how thankful she was of the life that Christ had blessed her with. She wasn't and didn't let her illness bring her faith and hopes down. This event that took place did nothing but maker her faith for Christ stronger and stroger everyday. She is truly an inspiration not to give up fighting no matter how hard things in life get.

My dear Betty & John: My heart hurts with yours! I will keep you in my prayers in future days.
I first met Elizabeth on a canoe trip with Broadmoor Baptist when she was in highschool. Since then I have been blessed to watch her love for our Lord over the years and her devotion to helping others know the Lord too. She walked with Christ hand in hand in spirit while with us, and now continues to walk with Him in the Heavens. My love to you during this time.

To John, Betty, David and Keith, and family...
I am going to miss Elizabeth. So many great memories of great choir mission tours and the incredible witness that she gave for the Lord through the years of her life. I pray that you are comforted by the Holy Spirit in that this, in light of eternity in Heaven, is going to be a short separation. Heaven became even sweeter as God welcomed home a servant who finished her race, and finished well. She is cheering you on now that she is totally healed. I grieve your loss and pray God's peace and blessings to each of you!
In Christ,
John Walker

Oh, i am soooo sorry to hear about Elizabeth's passing. I heard of her passing, strangely enough, through a sweet Sunday School friend here at Irving Bible Church in Irving, Texas, who had put in a prayer request for you, her family, yesterday. As I read the prayer request to our class, I stopped mid-sentence when I saw the name Elizabeth Harrison and prayed surely it was not the same Elizabeth. When Kaylyn and I talked further and I found out this Elizabeth was from Shreveport, my heart sank and I was pretty sure the coincidence was much, much too close. Elizabeth and I went on the same Walk to Emmaus together and served on either one or two teams together. My most favorite memory of Elizabeth was one morning on a team we were working on, some of us had gathered in the conference room before morning chapel, and somebody said something which reminded me of the song "Goin' to the Chapel" and I started singing that.....Elizabeth and another Elizabeth (Hensley) were both nearby and started singing it with me and they added all kinds of harmony while I was just plain singing in my croaky voice. It was sweet. We just sat there and laughed!! She was always so energetic and fun to be around and very sweet and encouraging. I thought she had a bout of illness before I left Shreveport 6 years ago, but was doing well. I always see her name on my email list anytime I send something to another Elizabeth and just the other day, I thought about her and wondered how she was. I'm sitting here smiling right now and it seems kind of wrong not to shed tears; instead I feel a peace and joy for Elizabeth. She was just such a sweet, sweet spirited person, I know God has a special angel with Him today!! Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you as this difficult time, as well as the thoughts and prayers of a special group of people here in Irving Texas. We wish God's abiding peace and comfort for you.

John, Betty & Family, Our prayers & thoughts have been with you and Elijabeth.
A poem comes to mind which hopefully will give you comfort, from our hearts to yours.
AN ANGEL RETURNING HOME
She was a kind and gentle soul
Who showed a lot of love
She left this Earth a few days ago
Now she's looking down from above.
A warm and loving being
Honest, humble and meek
Qualities that the Master had
That we all wish to seek.
During her life she strived to find
Happiness, joy and ease
She had her troubles along the way
Her soul is now at peace.
We on Earth can now recall
The memories left behind
Of an angel while on Earth
Now with her own kind.
"We have her now
Safely in our domain",
These words are heard
As angels echo the refrain.
She has returned home
To that other land
Up there with the angels now
Walking together hand in hand.
Love, James & Terry Street

I was honored to know Elizabeth through my children. They were blessed to first meet her at Southfield School, then as a Sunday School teacher at Broadmoor. Elizabeth approached me around twenty two years ago at Camp Bethany while I was a camper and she was serving as a counselor. Because of our conversation that day, my life forever changed as I began my Christian journey. I thank her for pulling me aside that day and smile to know that she can finally see how she affected so many on this earth in such a positive way.

Oh, how very missed Elizabeth will be. I am another of the Charter crew who so very treasured my time with Elizabeth. I am inspired by her unfailing love for our Lord and dependence on Him through the battle with cancer. The memories will continue to be cherished--even to our last DIY project working on her hard wood floors. My prayers are steadily asking for peace and strength for the Harrison's--especially Mrs. Harrison.

I worked with Elizabeth all those years at Charter Forest, and we have kept in touch through the years since. I cherish my last visit with her just before her final trip to Houston. We watch old 80's movies and had a wonderful time. The thing I remember the most is what she said, and not for the first time, "if God gave me the chance to go back and never be diagnosed with cancer, I would refuse. I have loved how close I have been to him through this, and I delight in how many people I have reached for him". Elizabeth truly magnified and glorified Christ! She was such a blessing to me and all she met. I love you Elizabeth and will miss you dearly, but I am filled with joy when I think about you now being in the arms of Christ!

Although I have not seen Elizabeth since graduating from Baylor, she has been in my prayers over the last few years. We were KD pledge sisters and Elizabeth was always a bright spot for our sorority. I've read her recent emails over the last year as she battled her cancer and was amazed at her continuing devotion to God and her faith that never failed. She was a true warrier of God and I feel blessed to have shared a few years of her life with her. My deepest sympathy to her family at this time of grief. I know she is sitting with the angels and in a better place. She will always live in our memories.

Elizabeth was the most precious young woman that I have ever met. I enjoyed getting to know her when working in the 4th grade Sunday School Department. With that beautiful smile, she made everyone feel special when talking to her. The students in her 4th grade S.S. class adored her and many came to know Jesus. I am grateful to Elizabeth for the time that she gave my daughter Sarah at camp, Sunday School and youth trips - she made a lasting impression on her. Our love and prayers go to your family during this difficult time.

Elizabeth gave me many words of encouragement over the years. One day in particular when I thought she should have been devastated she said to me, "Count it all joy." I will forever be grateful to her for this pearl of faith that she gave to me. She has fought the good fight and achieved the prize - everlasting life with our gracious Father.
