Barbara Kay Shirey Colmer

SHREVEPORT, LA - Celebration of life services for Barbara Kay Shirey Colmer, 72 will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 10, 2009 in the Centuries Memorial Chapel with Pastor George Schaetzle officiating. Interment will follow in the Centuries Memorial Park, Shreveport, Louisiana. Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 10, 2009 until time of service at Centuries.

Mrs. Colmer was born August 5, 1937 in Lincoln, NE to the late Lester V. and Anne M. Shirey and was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ September, 7, 2009 in Shreveport, LA. Mrs. Colmer attended St. Paul Lutheran Church; was on the Board of Directors; and was a member of LWML. She was a bookkeeper for Dr's. Hall, Smith, and Asseff for a period of thirty years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Virginia Hildebrand. Left to cherish her memories and tell her story will be her husband of fifty years, Joe F. Colmer; her children, Shawn C. Bray of Shreveport, LA, and Brian J. and wife, Beverly of Bedford, TX; grandchildren, Cecily Manhard and husband, Matt of Fort Worth, TX; Courtney Colmer of Bedford, TX; Chase, Miles, and Kayli Bray of Shreveport, LA; sisters, Roberta Lauer and husband Walt of Rio Rancho, NM, and Nancy Shirey of Lincoln, NE; great-grandchildren, Jaicee, Stephen, and Brian Manhard of Fort Worth, TX; her other "daughter", Lamai Edge and "grandchildren" Will and Mattie Edge along with a host of extended relatives and friends that will miss her greatly.

Acting as pallbearers will be Bob Roy, Joe Burroughs, William Edge, Tim Brobst, Ted Dickson, and Randy Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene Lindsey, Walt Lauer, Duane Brobst, LJ Benson, and Gerald Stephens.
