Charlie DVM Obituary
7/21/1956 - 2/27/2013
Charlie Glen Dupree, DVM passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Grace Home in Shreveport at the age of 56 after a two year battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Charmaine of St. Francisville, two sons, Justin and Seth of Thibodeaux. His mother, Charline Dupree of Bossier City, two brothers, Gary and wife Ginger of Bossier City and Greg and wife Jonna of Clarence and numerous nieces and nephews. He leaves a host of friends who shared his love for his homeopathic veterinary profession and lifestyle. He was preceded in death by his father, Reual C. Dupree, Jr. and grandparents.
To his friends, the family expresses sincere gratitude for the love, prayers, concern and ministry shown during the time of Glen's illness. Glen lived his life with dignity and taught others by his example that life cannot be measured by wealth or worldly success. Rather, he taught by example that a truly successful life is to appreciate the wonder of God's plan for His creation in our relationship with others, in the beauty of nature and in the simplicity of faith. It is the fervent hope of family members that we can continue this legacy that Glen is leaving to everyone who ministered so lovingly to him during his battle with cancer.
At Glen's request, his memorial service will be held in the church of his childhood, First Baptist Church, Coushatta, Louisiana on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 2:00 P.M.

i was reminded of Dr. Dupree by an email to add memories of him. i can hear his voice in my head whenever i think of him. i was very fortunate to have taken every single course on homeopathy he taught in what turned out to be the last year of his life. i read over the comments on this page, and am again touched by the breadth and depth of how many people and animals he helped over the years, and how his legacy is living on. i have been blessed to have learned a small portion of his insight-- which i share with others on a regular basis.

i was pleased to be emailed about the anniversary of Dr. Glen's passing and invited to write again. I looked at my tribute that i wrote many years ago, and i still hear his words echoing in my brain every time i look at an animal or human who is suffering an illness. He said, "First, clean up the environment, then see if there is anything left for homeopathy to treat". Enduring words, Dr. Glen. I carry you with me everywhere i go. Now that my beloved husband has passed on, i hope that you two will meet in heaven and share stories. you both were such wonderful story tellers, possessing keen intellects, lovers of animals, and such kind and caring men.

Dr. Glen was so great to us. When the other vets wanted us to put Schrödinger down because of kidney disease he helped us help her better. She lived 5 more years! You were a wonderful vet and we will all miss you! I know there are so many animals there to meet you on your way to Heaven!

I made a few phone calls attempts over the last year or so to Dr. Dupree at his office number with no success. I just learned of his passing today. Dr. Dupree helped very much with my Maine Coon cat-- Buddy-- who was very sick back in 2008. I still have a copy of "For The Animals" that I keep in my glove box as well as a copy of "Fresh and Raw Cat Food Diet" that he gave to me. I am very saddened to hear that Dr. Dupree has passed away. I am also very grateful that Buddy, Mr. Eddie and I got to meet him. He helped all of us very much.

We are so heartbroken, not only that we will not see or speak to Glenn, but that we didn't check up on him. Now that time has passed, we can only pray that his family has some level of peace. Certainly, there never was, nor will there ever be another like him.

Dr Glen is sorely missed. I took two day seminars from him, and consulted with him by email many times. He walked me through illnesses and crises with goats and horses, and never failed to provide excellent care and advice. Homeopathic vets with his level of knowledge are rare indeed, and his quiet demeanor and wonderful teaching style put him at the top of his field.

I still can't believe Dr. Dupree is gone.
He was a wonderful vet and a kind, caring human being. It was our privilege to meet him twice here in Virginia so he could check our Pembroke Welsh Corgis. He treated both of them over the telephone for years. He saw us through the deaths of our beloved Corgis and was caring for our adopted mixed breed girls, Lexie and Lacey when he got sick. Their lives will never be the same now. Homeopathic/ traditionally trained vets like Glen are almost non-existant up here. I thank God for putting Glen in our lives. Any animal that had Glen caring for them had to be blessed. My prayers are still with his mother and his family.

Just found out about Glen's passing as well and my heart is broken. Glen has worked with us providing consulations for our personal animals and for customers who shop with us at our store in Covington. Glen in fact did on site consulations for while shortly after we opened our store in 2007. He was a wonderful kind and gentle soul who did whatever he could to assist in making sick animals healthy using natural means. He in fact worked with us up until February 17th trying to save our golden retriever Sophie who also succombed to cancer. Despite Glen's own health challenges and battles, he always did what he could to make time to help the animals. He will be missed greatly and I know for a fact there was a huge crowd at the rainbow bridge waiting to greet him, including our Sophie, Sage and Miss Penny. Rest in peace beloved friend. I just heard of Dr. Dupree's passing. Needless to say my heart is heavy and saddened by the news. He was a very dear man, even though we only spoke via the telephone and emails.
I knew he was in a fight for his life. I pray that now he peaceful, whole, and surrounded by all those beautiful animals he cared for and loved.

My sincerest sympathy on Glen's passing. He saved my horse's life 15 years ago and I was trying to contact him for help again when I learned of his passing. We have lost a great vet and more importantly a wonderful person.

I just learned of Glen's passing as I tried to email and call with no response. Glen was a wonderful person and great vet. Heaven has certainly gained an angel but we have lost someone who we will never be able to replace. I thank GOD for our "phone paths" having crossed.

My sincere condolences to Glen's family. I first met him at a talk he gave at the 2009 ACRES conference. His methods helped me greatly as I transitioned my cow herd from conventional to organic. I had the priveledge to meet him again in person as I recommended him as a speaker for an AG conference in Brandon Manitoba. My biggest regret is not taking the time to do one of his webinars.

I had the great fortune to meet Glen when he came briefly to Taos to treat my cat, Tulip. He worked with Tulip for over a year. I was very touched by his generosity and wisdom and his profound knowledge. Through our email correspondence, in the treatment of Tulip, I got to know about Glen a little more, knew he was battling with cancer. We were so sorry to hear of Glen's passing and want to offer our condolences to his family and friends. On one of Glen's teaching trips several years ago, we enjoyed the pleasure of his company at our dinner table. That night Glen met our 10 year old golden retriever, and explained that Ranger's "conventional" diagnosis of lung cancer didn't seem correct. We appreciated his help and instead of 3 weeks we had Ranger 3 more years.

For sixteen years, many in what Glen and I referred to as "the Philadelphia office" were helped by Glen's skill, patience, compassion and tremendous generosity. Glen's passion for homeopathy kept him going and as late as February 15, Glen insisted on prescribing for one of my dogs. Glen was a huge blessing to my life and I am honored that he was my friend. I had taken Glen's homeopathic seminar 4 years ago and was very impressed with him at that time. It wasn't until last fall that my husband and I consulted with him regarding our dog who had been ill and was pretty uncomfortable. Glen's regimen has allowed us to make her comfortable and has allowed us to be able to keep her these extra months. He was truly a gem in this world. Michael and I would just like for the family to know how much y'all are in our thoughts and prayers. We have special memories of Glen from High School. He was a great man, but how could he not be from the parents he had. Mr. Ruel C. and Ms. Charlene raised a great family! God Bless this family and lift them up in their time of need!
