The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Tommy Huffman our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Tom. And to Tom it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during the Fietnam War while serving in the U.S. Air Force. Tom, we commend you for your honorable service. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, Generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. You were a true friend. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Tom's family and loved ones.

I enjoyed meeting Tom this summer at his daughter's, Tammy, retirement from the Air Force. It was so evident how proud of her he was and touched by her tributes to him during the ceremony. My condolences for your loss. What a great man... Heaven has a new hero in it!

Aunt Linda, Tammy, and Kim,
I am so sorry for your loss. Although I haven't seen Uncle Tommy in years, I remember his smile vividly and his laugh echoes in my mind. Conversation was always so easy with him and he never lacked for stories!!!
May God grant you Peace in the days ahead as you face the difficulty of burying a loved one. I pray that you find comfort in the memories when you feel that you cant go on during the years that follow.
With all my Love.

Mrs. Linda, Kim, Tammy, & Haley I am deeply sorry for your loss! Mr. Tom was a wonderful man & I loved him like he was my own Daddy! I'll never forget all of the talks on the front porch in the rocking chairs, Sunday suppers, & family get togethers that I was ALWAYS welcome to! He loved deeply and for that I will be eternally grateful! He was a father to me when a teenage girl needs one the most! His boistorous laugh would make everyone around him laugh (even if what he was saying wasn't even funny)! I love you all & wish so much I could be there to celebrate his life!
