SANFORD LORETTE Obituary

LORETTE, SANFORD O. Sanford O. Lorette, age 93, died at his home in Imperial County, on Friday, November 5, 2010, of natural causes. He was born in Yale, Oklahoma. He served in the Army during World War II and later Korea. During this time, he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He continued his military career and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after more than 20 years of service. He then went on to work for the federal government for 20-plus years as an editor of Army technical manuals at Fort Bliss, Texas. Survivors include his wife, Nella, and five children, Mike Lorette, Priscilla Bell, Mark Lorette, Barbara McAleese, and Carole Worley. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Sanford was a kind and religious man with a great sense of humor and was known for telling great stories to his children and grandchildren. He was an inspiration to those around him and he will be missed by all who knew him. Graveside Services will be held at El Camino Memorial Park in Sorrento Valley on November 12th, at 11:00 a.m.
