Dear Aunt Dodie, always ready with a
smile and a quick retort. My family and I were truly blessed by having you in our lives.
Love you and miss you.

My thoughts are with Dodie's family for their loss. I feel like I know all of you from the stories Dodie shared while we worked together and after her retirement. She will always hold a special place in my heart because of all the memories we share that bring a smile to my face. A birthday was not a birthday unless you got a call and heard the birthday bell. Whether we were at a Padre game, playing poker, enjoying a great meal or just talking on the phone, Dodie was the definition of a fun and loving person. We are all so lucky to have had her be a part of our lives.

I am saddened to hear of
Dodie's passing. I was her supervisor for many years at the County of San Diego Coroner's Office. One of her duties included the difficult job of returning a decedent's property to grieving relatives. An almost daily task that required compassion and tactful communication. Her attention to detail regarding accounting, purchasing, and other bureaucratic paperwork saved my backside on many occasions. She was a skillful and very dedicated employee and I felt lucky and blessed to work with her...unless I happened to make the mistake of criticizing the Padres. Wow, then I found out what a loyal and knowledgible Padre fan she was. Even after a Padre loss, she was a diehard optimist about the team's future. I always regretted that I was out of the country on Navy Reserve duty when she retired. With each of my military promotions I could always count on a congratulatory card from Dodie...mostly of the "off color" variety...and I missed the opportunity for "pay back" at her retirement party. After retirement, her Xmas cards were always an anticipated part of my Christmas.... She will be missed.

What a wonderful woman and inspiration to all who knew her. My favorite memory of Dodie was our trip on the sinking Lollipop in Port Aransas. She kept her cool(as always) and saved me from jumping overboard.

I just learned of Dodie's passing and would like her family to know how dear she was to me, so KIND when I moved to Belden Village 12 years ago. We kept up with XMas cards after she went to Texas but I believe they stopped after her move to Sun City. Sincere condolences from Judith Green, Belden #48
