IRENE O'SHEA Obituary

O'SHEA, IRENE ELIZABETH May 16, 1921 to July 17, 2010 Irene Elizabeth O'Shea, 89 years young, entered Heaven peacefully on July 17, 2010, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Irene was born in New York on May 16, 1921 to Elizabeth and Timothy O'Shea. She settled in San Diego to raise her family in 1959. She showed her four children how to be strong, independent and compassionate. She was a safe harbor for her children and an adoring grandmother and great-grandmother, whose boundless love and understanding will remain in the hearts of her family forever. She touched many lives in her time upon this earth and many will remember receiving a special "Irish Blessing" from her. Irene was preceded in death by her two sons, Roger W. Hintze (Terry) and Frederick J. Hintze (Barbara). She is survived by her two daughters, Irene (Beth) Daly (Paul) and Winifred Ann Dorsey; grandchildren, Christopher Hintze (Tiffany), Meghan Spielmann (Michael), Jennifer R. Graca (Shawn), John Brian Beaver (Amber), Sean Dorsey, Ryan Dorsey, Kyle Haugo; seven great-grandchildren and a very special family member, Alvin H. Weaver (partner of many years). Mass will be held September 4th, at 10:00 a.m. with a reception immediately following to celebrate Irene's Life. Both will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church, 2540 San Diego Ave., Old Town San Diego. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to the Immaculate Conception Church where Irene volunteered for many years.

You were a very special part of my life. I miss your words of wisdom, advice, smile, and your Irish Blessings.

Al, God Bless you and comfort you.

To her daughters, your Mom was a fantastic person and I cared for her dearly. You are in my prayers.

Irene, I know you are still watching over me. Love You! "Tilt your Halo!"

We will miss her lilting Irish laughter, her good humor, and her clarity of thought and opinion. We served with her at Immaculate Conception Church in Old Town, and since I too had spent time on a ranch in Wyoming we had a solid connection and good conversations. She was much admired and will be sorely missed, but our Faith will move us through to better times and recognize the rewards in store for her. Our condolences to Al, her solid Marine, and her family, a few of whom we were fortunate enough to meet -- but we heard about all of you. Joe & Gloria Flynn

Our sincerest condolences to Al and Irene's daughters. We truly enjoyed meeting, visiting, and having Irene and Al stay with our O'Shea family not so long ago. She was truly an inspirational person who was very vibrant. We too received her special "Irish Blessing" just before she and Al departed for their return trip home from Nebraska. May God Bless her, her family and loved ones, and may the wind be always at your back and the sun on your face.

Irene was a powerhouse of a woman. She was a loving mother-in-law who taught me, among other things, how to make a terrific oil and vinegar salad dressing oh so many years ago when I was a young woman.

I'm so sorry I never got by to see her again during the few times I was in San Diego. I'm grateful we had an opportunity to spend time together in Hawaii, the many years ago when the Vorces had a family reunion on Oahu.

My thoughts are with you both, Beth and Ann. Know that your mom, as well as Roger, hold very special places in my heart. Take good care of yourselves.
