MARY WILLIAMS Obituary

WILLIAMS, MARY LOIS Mary Lois Williams, 88, gently entered into peace on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 in La Mesa, California. Mrs. Williams was born in Starkville, Mississippi. After attending The University of Mississippi, she married and traveled the United States with her military husband and family of three daughters calling such places as Falls Church, VA, Honolulu, HI, Whidbey Island, WA, and Coronado, CA, home. She settled in La Mesa, California in the early 1950's where she reared her three children to adulthood. For seventeen years, she worked at Anthony's Fish Grotto in La Mesa. After retiring from Anthony's and remarrying, Mrs. Williams spent her time painting, sewing, being with her beloved grandchildren and playing bridge. She co-hosted several bridge tournaments and marathons throughout the San Diego area, making many treasured friends along the way. Her husband, Jack Williams, Retired USAF, precedes her in death, as does her grandson, David Montgomery. She is survived by her much loved brother, Joseph Gnas of Ohio, daughters, Rebecca L. Tracy and husband Bill of La Mesa, Joye Montgomery and husband Fred of Oak Ridge, TN, Kristine Waddell of La Mesa, and Kendra Linkowski of North Carolina. Seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive her. To them she was "Tutu". They include Mary Clegg of Oceanside, Veronica Raymond of Oak Ridge, TN, Peter Montgomery of Jacksonville, FL, Noelle Kells of New Zealand, Wendy Waddell of San Diego, Ryan Waddell of San Clemente, CA, Denise Wilson of Las Vegas, NV, Richard Tracy of Colorado, Tighe Jenkins, Hali Jenkins, Laura Linkowski and Lucy Linkowski of South Carolina. A private inurnment Ceremony is planned at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, where she will rest with her husband.

Although I am very sad that she is not here to hug and talk to anymore, I feel relief for my grandma who is at peace and full of love and serenity in Heaven, her own special Heaven, with Missy. I am grateful for the grandma-love she poured over me my whole life and for the wonderful memories I have. I love you, Tutu!

Although I did not know Mary very well, each time we talked we would always talk about the political scene. She was a very well informed lady who was a patriot and loved our Country dearly. I always enjoyed our conversations as well as the laughter we shared. I will miss our little talks, but will always remember her fondly.

I truly enjoyed Mary's friendship while staying at L.G. Care. She is now in my touched my heart and we formed a wonderful bond. She will always remain in my heart even though I only had the pleasure of knowing Mary for a short time.

I'm a better man for having Tutu as my grandmother. She was not only the best grandmother, she defined what it means to be a grandmother. She will always live inside all of our hearts. Thank you and God bless you Tutu.
