CONNIE MIDDLETON Obituary

Connie Elaine Middleton, age 56, passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2011 at her home in Mount Vernon.

She was born June 28, 1954 in Mount Vernon, Washington, the second of five children to Bud and Shirley Novotny. She attended school in Mount Vernon and prior to graduation began an odyssey that would truly make an intriguing book.

After years of trials and tribulations, Connie eventually settled down and spent approximately twenty years in Muncie, Indiana. She attended Ball State University in Indiana and made her family proud by making the Dean's List for the academic year 1996-97. She received her BA in the social sciences and worked many years for the Transit Authority in Muncie, Indiana. Connie had many dear friends in Muncie and spoke often of her desire to see them again in the near future.

Connie moved back to Mount Vernon in 2001 to be close to her family and lifelong friends. As her health allowed she helped those who needed a hand and always went out of her way to help the elderly.

Connie was a unique character with a quick wit and delightful sense of humor. She traveled many paths in her life and could handle herself confidently with any audience. You never had to wonder what Connie thought about a particular subject as she was always forthright and straight ahead with her basic beliefs and opinions. For those of us that knew and loved her, it will probably be her unflinching candor and honesty that we will most remember and miss.

She is survived by her daughter Andrea Middleton of Indiana; her father Bud Novotny and her sisters and brothers-in-law, Wendy and Ron Fore and Heidi and Eric Stendal of Sedro-Woolley, Gretchen and Curtis Hood of Eatonville; her brother Steve Novotny of Mount Vernon; her aunt Irene Kittelson and lifelong friend Lorraine Breathour of Mount Vernon; special cousins, Kathy Good and Julee Bradshaw (Aaron) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Matt Middleton and her mother Shirley Novotny.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Cremation and arrangements are under the care of Hawthorne Funeral Home.

I liked Connie. She was a nice person to be around. Never judgmental. Rest in peace. Happy you made it home.

I am so sorry to hear about the death of a good friend. Connie and I worked at MITS in Muncie, Indiana. We got to be good friends during that time. We spent alot of time at the Crab Shack in Indy and had a lot of fun during the time she was here. I will miss her and I will miss our conversations! I will be praying for all of you during this time of sorrow...Linda Sherrell

I will never forget all the fun Connie and I had as kids together. We had sleep overs. Babysat Heidi, Gretchen & Steve together. Went to the show your dad always made us take popcorn from home to save us money. Went to your Grandpa and Grandma's house all the time. Even went to your grandpa's bar on a Sunday when it was closed. I was so impressed with the picture of the dog's playing cards on the wall. We played Barbie's together.I will never forget how much trouble we got into when we put a fire out with water in your fire place because we were leaving the house to go to your grandma's next door. We both got tummy aches after eating a box of chocolate covered cherries we bought for a dollar. I loved our neighborhood so many kids to grow up with. I am so glad I was able to see her again. Your family was a huge part of my childhood. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Wendy & Family, I am so sorry to hear about Connies passing. It started me thinking of all the funny things we did when we were kids. I will never forget her or your Mom.
