Jerry Foster Obituary

Jerry Taylor Foster, age 80, of Hessel, Michigan, died Friday, October 13, 2017, in St. Ignace, Michigan. He was born August 5, 1937, in Genesee County, Michigan, to Bradford Vain Foster and Alfreda Thresa Fern (Strong) Foster.
Jerry's family moved from Genesee County to Charlevoix, Michigan when he was seven years old.
He graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1955. He attended the Sault Branch of Michigan College of Mining and Technology for two years before completing his Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Michigan College of Mining and Technology in Houghton.
Jerry married Nancy Kay Juilleret on June 16, 1962, in Charlevoix, and they both graduated from college that same year. They made their home in Plymouth, Michigan, and started their family. Jerry was employed by Associated Spring, Barnes Group Inc., where he worked for 20 years in Plymouth and Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Mattoon, Illinois. He managed several automotive related, manufacturing concerns in the Detroit area for the next several years.
In 1988, he and Nancy purchased Lindberg Cottages in Hessel, where they made their home and operated the resort until they retired in 2008.
Jerry was a member of the Charlevoix Masonic Lodge Temple #282, the Les Cheneaux Masonic Lodge #590, and the Northwest Michigan Shrine Club.
Jerry enjoyed woodworking, camping, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, boating, and especially spending time with family. He was the proud owner of a 1939 - 17 ½ foot Lyman boat.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Nancy Foster of Hessel; sons, Keith Stuart (Carla) Foster of Middleville, Michigan, Scott Vain (Colleen) Foster of Novi, Michigan, and Patrick Jay (Gina) Foster of St. Clair, Michigan; daughters, Karen Elaine (David) Crane of Hudson, Ohio, and Pamela Joy (Raymond) Schebel of Cedar River, Michigan; grandchildren, Rachel (Mike) Neubert, Nicole (Josh) Barber, Taylor Foster, Sara (Michael) Crane/Knoblauch, Andrew Crane, Sherilyn Foster, Harrison Foster, Evan Foster, Parker Foster, Eric Schebel, and Travis Schebel; and great grandchildren, Blake, Easton, Kade, and Ayla. He is also survived by his brother, Bradford (Joyce) Foster of Petoskey, Michigan, and brother-in- law, David (Eileen) Juilleret of Charlevoix.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Danny Foster; infant daughter, Sheryl Lynn Foster (Scott's twin); infant grandson, Raymond Schebel; brother, Richard Foster; and sisters-in- law, Arletta Foster and Margaret Juilleret.
Services will be held Tuesday, October 17, at R. Galer Funeral Home, 24549 S. M-129, in Pickford, Michigan. A gathering time will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon followed by a Memorial Service beginning at 12:00 Noon then a Masonic Memorial Service.
Interment will be in Cedar Cemetery in Cedarville, Michigan, immediately following the services.
Memorial contributions may be made the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Michigan Chapter, 25200 Telegraph Road, Suite 100, Southfield, MI 48033, or a local organization or charity of your choice.
