Kenneth Lynn Reid, age 71, of Cedarville, Michigan, died on July 31, 2017 at his home. He was born on April 10, 1946 in Bowling Green, Ohio to George James and Sylvia Loretta (Smith) Reid.
Ken was grew up in Bowling Green and graduated from high school in the class of 1964. In November of 1965, he was drafted in in to the United States Army and spent two years in the military. During his service he spent a year in Vietnam and his duties were to repair Artillery Equipment in the field. After returning from the military he went to college at Lake Superior State University where he graduated with an Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. He then received a job with Detroit Edison as a junior engineer in the department of constructing the large transmission lines. Ken then owned the Amoco gas station in Cedarville for 20 years. He then opened and operated the automotive parts store in Cedarville for 6 years. After selling both he went to work in construction for a few years, until he starting working for Austin Powder Co. and worked in the blasting and quarry industries until he retired in 2016.
Ken was the president of Chamber of Commerce and president of Sportsman's club.
Ken loved hunting, fishing, traveling, and working on old hot rods and classic cars. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and all the time he could spend at the hunting camp.
Ken is survived by his sons, Jeffrey L. (Julie) Reid of Harrison, Michigan and Todd D. (Laurie) Reid of Cedarville; grandchildren, Wesley, Gavin, Donovan, Trenton, and Braxton; brother Gary Reid of Hessel, Michigan.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents, George and Sylvia.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at R. Galer Funeral Home in Pickford, Michigan with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the E.U.P., 308 W. 12 Mile Rd., Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783.
Interment will be at Cedar Cemetery in Cedarville.
