MCKINNEY TX - Adam Jason Darrow of McKinney TX. passed away on March 20, 2021 at the age of 39. He was born on January 5th. 1982 to Philip S (Pete) Darrow & Mary Pamela (Stout) Darrow in So. Bd. IN. He grew up in Granger IN. & attended Darden Elementary School, Clay Middle & Clay High School where he graduated in year 2000. He continued his studies at Indiana Univ. Purdue Univ. Indianapolis on a golf scholarship and was a graduate in 2005 with a Bachelor's degree. Addams golf career started at age 2 when his father cut down an old 5 wood to make him his first golf club and he began hitting the ball. He enjoyed competing in Pee Wee & Junior golf. He grew up at Knollwood C.C. and spent many hours playing & practicing. His mother never had to worry where Adam was, because she could always find him hitting balls or playing a round of golf. She also drove Adam and his golfing buddies on the Junior Tour to many tournaments. He then continued his golf at Clay High under Coach Al Hartman where they competed in the State Championship in 1999 & 2000 where he received All State honors. Upon graduation he selected IUPUI's scholarship offer to play under Coach John Andrews. There his team won a Conference Championship and played in the NCAA tournament .Later he was honored to be the first golfer in the schools history to be inducted into the IUPUI Hall of Fame. As he grew up he played in many Amateur tournaments , prestigious Junior tournaments in Oklahoma City, OK. and the Maxfli Junior PGA at the PGA National Golf Club in Florida He was the #1 qualifier from the State of Indiana which allowed him to compete in the USGA's U.S. Amateur at the famous Merion Golf Club in Philadelphia, PA. After his college and amateur career he turned professional and toured the country playing in different tournaments and invitationals. Adam continued playing professionally until the age of 29. He told a lot of stories of the up's & downs he experiencer on the road trying to make a living playing golf. He truly loved the game and the people he met while playing. After golf he started his new career selling computer software. His success eventually landed him jobs at Neverfail and then most recently at Qualtrics Inc. in Dallas TX. At Qualtrics he met some of his finest friends. The support they have shown during his illness would be impossible to measure. He became friends with many associates and mentors in the industry. Experiencing new intrest was important to Adam. Besides golf, he enjoyed traveling the U.S. and abroad. He had hoped to visit the 50 United States and in September of 2020 he added Vermont to his list making the final count 49' leaving Alaska as the only unvisited state. During his travels he made a point to visit as many football and baseball stadiums , pro and college as possible. He also traveled to several countries trying their cuisine and learning their cultures including St.Lucia, the United Kingdom, Thailand, Viet Nam, Cambodia and many others around the world. Adam played soccer

and Little League baseball, where he was a pitcher and third baseman. He had a strong arm and good hands. Eventually, he quit all other sports to develop his golf game, but remained a huge baseball fan. He went to various Spring Training camps when visiting his sister, Lori, and his brother-in-law, Mark in Phoenix. He became a big St. Louis Cardinals fan, later introducing his wife Whitney, to his favorite team. He traveled the country just to see them play. Ozzie Smith was his favorite player. He was fortunate to live in the same state as his sister, Wendy, his brother-in-law, Marty and their three daughters. They spent time golfing, swimming in their backyard and anticipating what pranks he would pull next. In fact, he made many, many surprise visits to all of his family members, so that he could spend time celebrating special occasions. Adam had close, special relationships with each of his nieces, making sure he was in attendance at most of their high and college graduations and staying in touch with them over the years. They were almost like siblings, playing board games, video games, laughing and joking together on numerous family vacations. He was so proud of these young ladies and all they have accomplished. On May 12, 2017, Adam's life was forever changed, when he met Whitney Hodge. God put them together at the exact moment they needed each other. From that day forward, they were never apart. They fell in love and got married on September 21, 2019 at one of the most beautiful places they had ever seen, the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse in Maine. Adam & Whitney were members of Prestonwood Baptist Church and that's where his love of Christ deepened and grew. They attended service every Sunday until he was unable to attend in person, and after that enjoyed watching every service on television. He is survived by his wife, Whitney, of McKinney, TX, parents, Philip S. & Mary P. Darrow of Granger, IN, sisters, Lori Brand and husband, Mark of Phoenix, AZ, Wendy Ohlman and husband Martin, of Montgomery, TX, nieces, Ashley Brand, Kelsey Ohlman, Kara Chapman and husband John, Lindsey Brand, Lauren Ohlman and Bella Rose Nobile, sitser-in-laws, Hailey Maliska and husband Ryan, and Blair Nobile and husband Brad, mother and father-in-law, Valerie & Johnny Hodge, uncles & aunts, Ray & Dolly Stout, Dennis & Nancy Darrow, Phyllis & Jim Everts, and many cousins and friends. Anyone who knew Adam, knew that he was a fierce competitor. He did not like to lose at anything. He fought his illness to the very end with his lovely and caring wife, Whitney, and his family and friends. Services were held on Thursday, March 25, at 10 a.m. at Prestonwood Baptist Church, 6801 W. Park Ave., Plano, TX, 75093. Visitation at 9 a.m. and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to First Tee of Michiana or the charity of their choice.
