CHEBOYGAN, MI - Larry Lester Dawson, 81, of Cheboygan, Michigan passed away on April 20, 2018 at home with his wife, Deborah by his side. Larry was born October 12, 1936 in Royal Center, Indiana to the late Wilbur E. (Jeff) & Lois B. Dawson. Larry graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1955 & earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University in 1976. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He married Deborah (Morrow) Shearer on February 23, 1995. Larry was a 25-year member of the SCCA & enjoyed racing his Super-V. He was a 15-year member of the Studebaker Drivers Club & loved talking Studebakers & cars. Larry enjoyed wandering the back roads looking for waterfalls & lighthouses, & taking pictures of them. He always had a project going & enjoyed woodworking. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur E. & Lois B. Dawson. Larry is survived by his wife, Deborah; stepdaughter, Stephanie (Leonard) Orzech of San Antonio, Texas; brothers, Richard T. (Linda) Dawson of St. Petersburg, Florida and Jeffrey A. (Marilyn) Dawson of South Bend, Indiana; nieces, Amy (Rick) Phillips of Cincinnati, Ohio and Hillary (Ernesto) Arana of Tampa, Florida; step-grandchildren, Gwendolyn, Tyler, & Audrey Orzech; and great-nieces, Audrey & Cassandra Phillips, & Carolyn Arana. Cremation is being entrusted to Nelson Funeral Home in Gaylord, Michigan. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
